I’m glad to be wrong about Bernice not feeling a letter being taken out of her hand. Anxious to hear someone explain how she magically appeared on Luann’s other side, though. ;)

See, that’s what I was talking about yesterday! Those curved special effects lines that visually indicate the envelope had been snatched from out of one hand by another . . . if we had those, the last panel of yesterday’s comic wouldn’t have been so confusing as to what exactly the action was supposed to be.

By now it’s certain that Piro has captured the fancy of our resident BFF’s. Are we going to require an arbiter/referee to step in? Perhaps Nancy?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Luann more selfish, entitled, and immature than she is right now.

I would be steaming mad if someone tried to read a letter that was meant for me. Luann is acting very immature, not anything one would expect of a teenager, even at age 13. I am looking forward to this arc ending. I don’t know why Luann’s character never grows up, but I guess that’s the way Gregg wants it.

When a personal letter is addressed to someone, no one else has the right to decide what the content would have to be.

Bernice doesn’t yet know Luann has decided she likes broody broken boys…and she’s about to find out ….on Saturday. The letter will be forgotten once Bernice finds out she has competition. It is clear she is still into Piro otherwise she’d toss the note or let Luann read it for all she cares.

Girls always go for the “bad, mysterious boy”. Meanwhile, I live by the good book and women avoid me. Last time I kissed a girl was in the 4th grade and she did it on a dare,

she can share it with you Luann, if she chooses, but let her read it first. It is her mail. People don’t go around opening other people’s mail even that of their best friend.

If these two went to a fortune teller, the crystal ball would be a blank, because I see no future for either of them.

Where is Nancy Degroot? The spiritual mother of Bernice Halper?

Of course Luann has no right to read a letter to Bernice, but I wonder if we the readers are going to know what it says. Just seems like an annoying tease.

The day has finally come. Luann is forced to realize that to Bernice she isn’t her best friend anymore, hasn’t been it for a long time and maybe Bernice barely considers her a friend. We readers figured it out years ago and knew it was only a matter of time, but it’s still sad to witness the scene. Poor Luann, she doesn’t deserve this. I hope one day Bernice will understand and regret what she has done and said.

Ahhhh, geez, here we go….nothing like a guy who’s not into either of them to start a war between good women.

Like I said buckle up. I don’t think it means a friendship breakup, and I sincerely hope not, but for those who do is hate fundamental to how you assess cartoon characters? More to come is a confident prediction.

I’m beginning to think that the letter will say something along the lines of, “Dear Bernice, please tell Tiffany that I accidentally broke the window in her house. I was looking for some place to crash and broke the window before realizing that I couldn’t jump that high, I hope this hasn’t inconvenienced her in any way. — Piro.”

Luann is definitely “into him” and wants to know if he’s still “into Bernice”. Maybe it will be found that he’s not into anyone.

You know, I usually find it silly when people get mad at fictional characters acting awfully when that fictional character is SUPPOSED to be awful from the readers POV… But I guess I’m a total hypocrite, because now I just wanna yell at Luann to stop being such an [expletive deleted].

LuAnn is interested Piro only because he is dark and mysterious which attracts her to people and situations. Unfortunately, they usually blow up in her face.

Luann’s nosy nosey nose is getting excessive, like Pinocchio, but not from lying, but prying!

This arc may go on for another week…with no conclusion, then Greg goes off on another direction.

You’re weren’t just “anyone” when she went CRYING to you IMMEDIATELY when she was Homeless a few years back.

Swallow your curiosity and quietly observe Bernice’s predictably squirrelly reaction to Starhead’s letter. Should be worth many pages for your creative writing class. Especially if you can drop a subtle hint to Nil about it. Jack, too.

I am so disapointed. They could have dragged this on for weeks, maybe even months or years. Now they both have to declare if they are interested in Piro. The big question is, if Bernice is still interested in him, will her number one best friend Luann back off? I don’t think so.

I told you this would result in a love triangle.

Sounds like Bernice has taken a trip to the “de Nile.” Her mouth is saying one thing, but her actions are saying another.

Which hand was used to grab letters is not important. What IS important is that shortly they will be pulling hair & ripping shirts off. That’s when it gets fun.

It seems like Bernice won’t decide if she still likes Piro until she finds out if Luann likes him. Pretty shallow and immature of Bernice.

I’d give Luann credit for throwing Bernice’s own “I’m your best friend” justification back in her face, but this strip’s lack of concern for its own continuity makes me doubt that it was a deliberate callback.

Piro sure does seem to attract stalkers for some reason.

I’m with Bernice on this. Luann shouldn’t have snatched the letter out of Bernice’s hand. And just because they’re best(?) friends, doesn’t mean you hafta share every personal detail. As I see it, Luann still seems immature, while Bernice is more on the adult side (her neurosis notwithstanding). Whether Bernice is still interested in Piro or not, is irrelevant. He gave her a letter that was meant for her. And while I understand Luann’s curiosity, she’s gonna hafta except that not everything is shared among friends. As for Luann possibly being interested in Piro, he’ll be too much for Luann’s square behind to handle.

Luann friends don’t open other people letters including best friends. Bernice does have a point it was meant for her.

I understand that a lot of people don’t like Bernice but she has a right to be upset IMO. The letter is none of Luann’s business.

One word: threesome

This looks like it could evolve into some kind of emotional conflict over Piro. At this juncture in the strip Luann is somewhat isolated from her one-time closest friends. Tiff, Gun, Les, and associates are off in their own orbit at Uni or the Manse or the Gulag. Jack and Nil, while still associated with Lu and Bern, are sidelined and off on their own pursuits. Aside from family, Bernice and Tara are pretty much the only “friends” Luann frequently interacts with.

Will Piro just be another ghost male like Jack and Nil, that appears and disappears willy-nilly?

Luann cannot afford to lose any more friends in the strip. She barely interacts happily with those that are left – basically Bernice and Tara. Maybe it’s time for a little heart-to-heart talk with her sister-in-law about life, ambition and men!

Neither of them is speaking to the point: the letter belongs to Bern. Luann has no right even too touch it.

It’s been a while since Luann and Bernice has acted like best friends. They always argue or make snide remarks at each other

How can Lu be so insensitive towards Bernice? The contents of that letter isn’t any of her business (unless after Bern reads it and wants to share the letter contents).

Give it up, Luann! You’re just digging yourself into a deeper hole with every feeble attempt to justify your misdeed….

If Luann just wanted to read the letter, she would have already done so. Luann needs to grow up and treat her BFF like the stranger she now is. Bern quit being the BFF to Luann for a while.

Whatever is in the letter won’t be romantic … I think that is one thing we all agree on. I do hope that once Bern does read it (alone) she will realize she has no one she can talk to about the letter, her disappointment or excitement ( well, maybe Nancy ). Either that and she goes to talk to Luann, knocks on her door and as she is trying to talk to her, Luann just closes the door.

At the very least, this will give Luann something to write about in her class, she now has sorrow and family drama ….

BBFs also know when to back off.
