This was not the Woo-Hoo spiritualist I had been expecting. I was beginning to be quite annoyed by this line of reasoning. I was becoming certain that she was putting pins into my ego, in a way that I would not be able to detect them. She was talking about the collective unconscious, and the interconnectedness of living minds. It was still unproven and hypothetical, largely, but sound enough. I felt certain that there must be a core of poppycock beneath this crust of reasonableness. I set out to discover and reveal it. "While that seems marginally plausible, it relies on connections that cannot possibly be shown to exist, and are actually quite imaginary. You aren’t talking about reality, but about psychology. Isn’t that actually a “soft science”, and a field filled with frauds and fallacies?" That should do it. A little more exposition on her part should rip the rind off the fruit to show it was worm-eaten and rotted.
Somebody told my mom that every time she sees a cardinal its my dad (R.I.P.) coming back to say hello.
(on an related note, my significant other thinks I was killed in Normandy on D-Day and reincarnated several years later)(so, dad has feathers and can fly without mechanical assistance, and I am featherless and require a ticket to get airborne)P.S. Apropos of nothing in particular, in 2019 I paid $450 for a 30 minute flight on the same B-17 that crashed in Dallas on 11-12.

Always, heed the Cardinal when he speaks, Tweety-Pie! —Even if red (male) cardinals are better for “looking at” than for “listening to”….
One can’t be too picky when watching the birds out the window the days. I speak from experience, in case that matters.
