After temps in the 60s and 70s for the last two months they’re calling for a couple of inches of snow starting tonight. Hand me that shovel.

Into each life some snow must fall……….or……….Any day it doesn’t snow is a good day.

Everything else is ready for the snow, but the shovels still need to be collected from their spot at the back of the shed.

They said on my local news to let them lie, that it would be better for your lawn in the spring.

Tomorrow morning for us in the Valley. The snow blower is ready.

When we moved from CA to The Midwest, I developed a new personal motto: I came, I saw, I shoveled. 25 years later, now back home in CA, my new motto will soon be, I came, I saw, I retired.

Perhaps Brutus can get the leaves raked and bagged before snow falls. Leaf raking was one of my chores as a kid, wonder if Brutus will have any luck getting Wilburforce to help? Probably not.

Just say the old battle axe is coming over if you don’t rake the leaves.

That is why the greatest tree in world is the Palm! Catholics even gave it its own special Sunday! The Grand Mahogany does Not have its own day! And if your near the Palms you have no leaves or snow to move!

Or how much better (even more fun) things are going to get. Shoveling (or sweeping) snow can be kind of enjoyable and rewarding (up to a point).

Tomorrow, I’ll probably take care of the last of the pecan leaves from the front yard. Though I won’t be doing any raking, but get to use my lawn tractor to mulch the leaves. Now, that’s the only way to handle the leaves. It’s good for the soil, the grass, and my back.

Only in the Thornapple household would taking care of the leaves entail shoveling the snow from the whole yard.

Too late! There is an inch of snow on the ground in Peoria and more forecast to fall over the next two days.

The snow shovel should remind Brutus that if he puts off raking the leaves the snow will hide them.

Like snow, they melt. Fast or slow.

If you haven’t gotten to the leaves yet, it’s too late.

I used to live inland about 40 miles of the east side of Lake Michigan. I remember shovelling snow, get in the house just start to get warm and the snowplow would come along and fill in the end of the driveway [you just shovelled] – put the wet clothes back on and re-clear the driveway. I’ve now lived in Florida for 50 plus years. I don’t miss snow – either the shovelling or the driving. Or the cold!

Leaves have just barely started falling here in central Texas…

Leaf blower. Snow blower. Modern man prefers to blow things up.

Last Friday, I was picking up leaves with my push mower and it was 60 degrees, it snowed Saturday and has been colder than normal ever since.

What a Pal. I would say show her the turkey pan for Thanksgiving as a retort, but then she would just say, let’s be different this year and go out for Thanksgiving. You can’t win so just, “grin and bear it”…..

Look on the bright side Brutus, it will be good exercise and you sure do need it.

In my part of Texas, it doesn’t snow often enough to even invest in a snow shovel. I did buy some stuff to sprinkle on an icy sidewalk, but we may or may not even need that.

I don’t mind watching snow fall, I don’t mind looking at it, but I do mind walking 5 miles a day in it and not being sure where all the ice patches are. It’s darker more, too, this time of year.

How nice to have someone there who you know will do the yard work if you just remind them a few hundred times.

I had a hard time finding this today. Something was either dropped or added.

I hate to admit it, but Gladys does have a point.

How about getting him a leaf blower and snow blower for early holiday gifts Gladys? They’re my favorite bad weather toys!

Glady was almost on the right track. While going for a walk the other day I saw a couple out raking leaves. Well, I should say he was raking the leaves… into small piles. She then pushed them to the street using a snow shovel. Their method seemed to be working surprisingly well.
