    …my brother raises service pups…

…teaches them their first 30 commands or so…

… acclimates them to their surroundings…

…churches, movie theaters, grocery stores, etc…

    …years ago…

…one such dog was left with their son…

…while he & his wife went out of state…

…the son’s job was to feed it, let it out, etc…

…when the son went to feed it…

    …the pup wouldn’t eat…

…it would just obediently just sit there…

…so my nephew called my brother…

    …it won’t eat…

    …“Oh,” my brother said…

    …“Say,’Release.”…

    …“Release”…

    …the service dog immediately ate…

Dogs really shouldn’t be left alone for any length of time.

They like being around other dogs, or people, or other animals.

They do better in company than by themselves.

As the pooch heralds his thoughts….

I’m worth more to you than any sneaky Calico cat, a goldfish, going nowhere, and that stupid stick you keep throwing for me to fetch…give me a break. A new brand of treats are in order…they’re so stale….word on the street is the Froglandia Bathmat factory has them on sale not….so hurry! Also, a few new balls would be nice about now! Oh and a new soft bed! That rug is uncomfortable….

Another reason we don’t deserve dogs.

Fewer than one in a hundred dog owners give their dogs what they want most: structure. In most dog households, dogs deal with the constant tension of who’s in charge, and most of the time, they wind up just assuming the role and responsibilities themselves.

Haven’t had a dog since we had to put down our Old English years ago … it really hurt.

(but just welcomed an 8 week old rescue kitten … wow … part Siamese, part Calico, part Heinz 57, and ALL time consuming)

Didn’t Grace grace a series about a crime-stopping hound, set on a train?

The coast was clear, so I came out from behind the boulder. The quarry was empty, but the path in, the one I had so recently used, was now occupied by a lone dog, sniffing the ground and moving along my trail. I hadn’t been gone long enough from Day Care to have them send the dogs out, so it had to be something else. I relaxed a little. Dogs, I was used to. The neighbor had one, and it had only bitten me once. If you just stay away from them, they can’t get to you. But this one wasn’t on a run. It had a collar, so it must have friends somewhere. Just then, it stopped and bugled. Weird word that, “bugled”. Had to be part beagle, I reasoned, since beagle sounds more like bugle than any other dog words I knew.

Dog is my copilot, and I’m sure he wouldn’t have it any other way.

I would argue many people ask too little, and expect too much. It is a relationship and must be built.

Da Blog: Regarding your memory problem, Teresa … here’s another quote by Steven Wright:

“Right now I’m having amnesia and deja vu at the same time… I think I’ve forgotten this before.”

His dog is a man’s best friend.

Cats are evil, untrustworthy, and demanding.

    Ain’t saying anything about ladies….
