Poor Spike; he’s going to get bloated as a tin can of Swedish surströmming.
Is that compassion coming from Lucy? Naw.
Feed him? She’s got her hands around his neck. Looks more like choking.
thin as a promise…ha ha!
Where is scarf city?
Is that Scarf City? Or, (being Lucy), Barf City?
Thin as a promise? Never heard that one before
Scarf City…any place that serves an all-you-can-eat buffet!
I told you that Spike is a nebbish.
You’ll feed him, but not nourish him.
Take him to Flavor Town!
Spike is a cutey!
Lucy is feeling kindhearted?!
[creaky old-timer voice] It’s the End Times, Jebediah! The Millennium’s a-comin’!
Regardless of the results, this is a side to Lucy I hadn’t imagined.
Poor Spike indeed!
Is Snoopy thinking “Poor Spike” because of how thin he is or because he’s going home with Lucy??
Guess Lucy ain’t as bad as I thought… Then I remembered how Linus will be impacted by this. Oh well. It’s only Linus.
You think Spike is miserable now, just wait until Lucy gets done with him.
Spike is so skinny, they could attach an eraser to one end and use him as a pencil
Lucy has a soft side!
I guess the original expression was “Thin As A Politician’s Promise”. Google that and see what you get ;)
Spike is as thin as a, well, spike…
“As thin as a promise?” It’s funny to see Lucy come out with such antiquated expressions.
And Lucy oughta know about thin promises. After all, her’s are so thin you can see through them.
« Thin as a promise »! I love it, lol!
What, Lucy thinking of someone other than herself? Must be awful cold down below…….
Spike looks like he’s got a little cat in him, with those whiskers.
This one begs the same question that applies to other strips with animals who do not speak, but communicate only in thought balloons: why is it necessary for Snoopy’s mouth to be wide open in the last panel? Is his thought covering up barking?
The story arc from this part on was adapted into the 2003 TV special “I Want a Dog For Christmas, Charlie Brown”.
