“Robin Hood vs the Lobbyists” — a film title up there with “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” or “Snakes on a Plane”.

Thanks to Sen. Josh Hawley, this Disney copyright issue is in the news again in 2022. I suppose one can sort of imagine him teaming up with Pinocchio.

Strip needs updating. Winnie the Pooh would now be among the rescue party.

Josh Hawley’s nose is outdistancing Pinocchio by a mile… or kilometer you pick.

I guess somebody doesn’t understand the difference between a copyright and trademark. Mickey Mouse is trademarked property of Disney, Inc. and is not subject to copyright law changes. While movies and cartoons are copyrighted, the CAHRACTERS are mostly trademarked. Even if Disney’s “Sleeping Beauty” goes public domain, Aurora herself, as depicted in the movie, cannot be used by anyone else to make a new production. The movie is copyrighted, but the character is trademarked.

The Ultra-cons are finally going after Disney. But only because Disney’s CEO opposed DeSantis’ “Don’t-Say-Gay” law.

Some early Mickey newspaper strips that had accidentally omitted the copyright notice were reprinted in comic book form without Disney’s approval in the 80s, I think; but a few that were still in copyright were accidentally included, so the lawyers stomped and smashed.

I’m surprised that Hercules wasn’t censored as well.

Absent further extensions, Superman will enter public domain in 2033 and Batman in 2034. So Warner Communications has skin in this game too…
