The big cats can’t purr. The smaller cats hiss, spit, fluff and arch their backs.Never seen a big cat do all that.

And then there are the medium-sized cats: ocelots, margays, jaguarundis. They roar, after a fashion, but because of their shorter vocal cords it’s not quite the same.

If cats could roar, who would want them? The roar means I am going to eat you, the purr means open the damn can and feed me!!!!

You’re forgetting about cheetahs. They are the only big cat that doesn’t roar. They bark!

House cats can growl pretty loudly if they choose. I had one of those. She was my protection cat, and totally an indoors cat, too.

I read the ‘:’ in the first panel as a ‘!’. I thought Muffin was watching news, and someone at the station, for reasons unknown to me, thought that was an important breaking story.

Those of you not klutzy enough to have accidently stepped on a cats tail(when they are standing/sitting immediately behind you) have never heard a housecat roar, they really do!

I read a study some time back. It analyzed the behavior of all cats big and small. Conclusion was that all cats essentially act the same…except for one thing. Only housecats curl up their front paws. Big cats don’t.
