Marcy needs to put her foot down and finalize her list once and for all

Invitee’s should not become inviters. Invitee’s should ask inviters first. This is just one example where that applies.

Poor Marcus thought he was doing a nice thing, but probably should have checked with Marcy first.

Time to call off the trip. Then reschedule smaller after a decent length of time.

He should’ve really consulted with Marcy before inviting Nicole to come along.

But there is a problem when you invite 3 or 4 brothers but not the other 7 or 8 or however many!

Not the best reason to get married.

    Not the worst reason either.

    Shouldn’t a bachelor get a “plus one?”

As long as they have separate rooms, there shouldn’t be a problem.

Marcus, just you and Nicole on your own. You pay for it. If it is at the same time and place as Marcy’s then it’s just a “coincidence” And Marcy can’t get fussy about it. Or are we planning a quick wedding in about 2 weeks?

My brothers did this on behalf of their kids’ significant others on our family trip, but at least they ran it past us rather than just assuming it would be OK. The trip is to celebrate my parent’s 60th anniversary (and survival of cancer). The entire trip is about the grandparents. Both of my brothers invited their children’s significant others along, since there was “plenty of room.” It was awkward and a logistical mess.

Adding a couple more people to a big trip can be a major headache. We had to do the legwork of checking whether it was OK with the grandparents and the other families. We had to make arrangements with the lodgings for additional people. I haven’t yet talked with my brothers about the additional VRBO charges we will likely rack up yet. I wish they hadn’t extended the guest list, but didn’t say no. If their kids were just casually dating these people, it would have been a “no”. These are more serious relationships, but we still had to deal with some conservative family members who don’t think unmarried couples should share a room during a family event. And then we had to communicate with the couples themselves, who had to be told that there aren’t enough rooms for them to have privacy and that they will likely be on a pullout couch in their parents’ rooms or bunked up with the other grand-kids. I don’t wish that on anyone. It should be a great trip, but it’s way too much work to include people who may or may not be a part of the family in the future.
