Varvel’s cartoon reminds me of an incident which happened at the UN a number of years ago. Henry Cabot Lodge was addressing the assembly and the Soviet representative kept interrupting him. Cabot lodge said, “If the gentleman from Russia will wait his turn…” and the Soviet rep interrupted saying, “Is not gentleman from Russia. Is representative of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.” Cabot lodge said, “The two are not necessarily mutually exclusive.”
