A victory for violent vigilantism and mob rule is not good news for our constitutional quasi-democratic republic. The rule of law only makes sense when the laws themselves make sense … “stand your ground” laws, based on perception rather than reality, are an example of senseless laws. Allowing the armed individual to meet out justice as they see fit has never been the defining principle of a republic.
What’s even more revolting is that several Qpublican Congresscritters have said that they will FIGHT for the chance to offer THIS MURDERER a job as an intern in their office!!
The U.S. retreats deeper into paranoid delusion and allies realize it can no longer be depended upon to forward the ideals of democracy and freedom for all. Any wonder they are looking to Russia for natural gas and PRC for trade?
Meanwhile, in important news, only Steve Bannon among the many MANY Trump Cult traitors to the United States of America is currently indicted for contempt of Congress…..
Although Rittenhouse was declared not guilty and criminal charges were dropped, he is not off the hook. He can and will be sued by the families of the people he killed. His life is ruined, and he has only himself to blame.
I did not follow the trial, but it is interesting to note the predictable reaction of many on the left. This person was found guilty by the press and the left before the trial ever took place. A jury found this person innocent based upon the laws and facts presented in the case. Now the justice system is being blamed?
If there is a problem with the laws, then we need to fix them. I know half of our population disagrees with the other half on what the laws should be but that is what why we have the government we have, to improve. It is wrong however for the press and our politicians to convict someone based upon their opinion of what the facts are or their beliefs. I will not claim our justice system is perfect however I do believe in innocent until proven guilty. It appears many posters here believe in guilty until proven innocent.
So, a seventeen year old carrying an AR-15 openly during a peaceful demonstration is now deemed not a threat to others in a courthouse where weapons of any kind are banned because they would pose a threat in a trial. The families of those killed or wounded should sue the police for failing to protect them.
On the question of returning the rifle, they will give it back, most likely. Not guilty means, no crime was committed, no reason he can’t have firearms and no reason not to release the rifle to the kid.
If he thought his life was in danger THEN……I cannot WAIT for the death threats (or worse) to come knockin’! (Cuz we all know that’s next) Oh,I almost forgot…..if I’m the families of the deceased I’m suing his little happy ass for everything he owns NOW or ever WILL own, including, and most importantly, his name so he cannot make millions for his “story”….and then I’d put a lien on him so he would NEVER come out from under this and NEVER forget!
Drove to another city, outside illegally, walked around carrying an assault rifle (illegally), shot and killed two unarmed people, then shot a third (armed) who confronted him. Cops let him go home.
We may not like it but according to the law he wasn’t guilty. On the other hand, I keep thinking about the people he killed. They were acting in self defense too. They saw a guy with a gun and thought- he is trying to hurt them or someone else so they tried to disarm him. Where does it end?

Strange logic. If/when I see a kid with an AR-15.. frankly, I feel threatened.. So it’s fine to shoot him?
