Every party points the finger at whichever party is in power but the fact is the debt has been an issue for years. The biggest problem is the US is no longer taking in enough revenue to pay for the countries needs because companies are paying lower tax rates or avoiding them completely through loopholes. The workforce is shrinking as well as more people retire and the birthrate has slowed. Taxes are going to be raised if they ever want to even get close to lowering the debt.

I think that the US and most other major countries have piled up much that the world leaders are going to hav eto reach an agreement that a certain percentage is going to have to be forgiven just like we are writing of some student debt. We did this after WW2 with some of our allies so it can be done. If they don’t the interest alone will eat up the budgets of many countries.

Even if Moscow Mitch saw this, he cannot be shamed. Nothing shames him.

Mitch McConnell is trying to troll Democrats — but the latest fight will just blow back on the GOP

MM and the GQP only care about the national debt when a democrat is in the White House.

It’s a two-fer. Run up the deficit by over $7 trillion under the Last Occupant, and refuse to pay for it when the bill comes due when a Democrat takes over.

McConnell is the most cynical politician in D.C.(!)

McConnell does not care who gets hurt as long as he thinks it will result in a win for him and his party. That is his only goal, he has no other values. Why do you think he facilitated Trump?

The debt ceiling has no effect on anything except money already spent. Oh, it can also motivate GOP primary voters.

Congress has already agreed to spend the money. The debt ceiling should be abolished, it is a monumental waste of time arguing whether or not to raise it. Most of the world has no debt ceiling, Denmark does but it is double their debt and does not play into day-to-day politics.

Good content, but not a good caricature of McConnell.

Moscow Mitch is at LEAST as much of a problem as any other single person in the US (or most out of it).

Historians will one day be certain that the decline and fall of the American Empire was linked to its inability to enact term limits.
