After Nixon and Ronnie Ray-gun weakened that party, H.W. Bush almost brought it back to a respectable level. Then came dumb W Bush to drag it down enough for Dolt 45 to kill it.

The worst part is that the Republican Party Of Trump does not want integrity at any level of government OR business.

They hate professionals as much as they hate democracy because they are profoundly threatened by both.

    .

If you don’t believe me, look at the comments from Trump Disciples on these boards.

Those two words got a divorce. Newt Gingrich (remember him?) presided, and it’s been downhill ever since. The question is whether anyone can trump the bottom where the party now resides.

The Qpublicans are utilizing a strategy which can not work unless they achieve autocracy. Their base shrinks by the year as more people embrace inclusion and all people equally enjoying the full benefits of society.

"The nine most terrifying words in the English language are ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’” – Ronald Reagan

What Reagan, and all Republican/conservatives fail to comprehend is that "WE, the PEOPLE ARE the government. Our Founders established and fought for the LIBERAL ideal of ‘self government’. conservatives, then called TORY opposed independence.

conservatives are the enemy of the United States of America, and have been since 1774.

I think it was Dwight Eisenhower’s famous exit speech about not trusting the military-industrial complex when the republican party first started going off the rails. Then Lee Atwater (working for Nixon) brought blatant racism into the mix, and also helped turn abortion into a culture war issue so republicans could court Catholic votes. It’s been all downhill from there….

Having just looked at all the news that fit to print I have to say again that I am damn glad I am old. So many GQP representatives in Congress who couldn’t buy a clue. have no idea what is in the Constitution aside from a wee bit of the 2nd amendment. In 2016 I was thinking our Republic had about 50 years before the red state cra cra people took over the asylum. Now? Maybe 20 years if we are lucky.

I say that because the coup by the GQP continues in every state, yes, even the Blue States. They totally believe that they will win the midterms and take both the House and Senate and they totally believe they will win in 2024.

There has not been a political party in the U.S. for many years that I would consider to have integrity. The cartoon simply implies that the republicans (at this time) are worse than the democrats which I feel is correct.
