No sense yelling fore! If that ball’s going to hit someone it will do so before the warning gets there. Even before the sound of the club hitting the ball gets there.

I remember way back in the 50’s, I used to go outside and hear jets breaking the sound barrier all the time.They eventually stopped doing that a long time ago, but hey… I still miss it.

Why didn’t the boom happen in the first panel? The ball couldn’t speed up after he hit it, and besides, the club must also have broken the sound barrier. Yeah, I know- cartoon physics.

If Grog is hitting that long, he is going to need a whole lot of backspin to walk the ball two miles back to the green.

This reminds me of the opening scene in the MASH TV pilot episode where Trapper hits the ball and it lands in the mine field, then you hear a BOOM!! Of course he yells: Fore!! afterwards lol

FYI: If someone could hit a golf ball hard enough to break the sound barrier, the sonic boom would occur the moment it left the club head not down range. You can only hear sonic booms of air craft only after they have pass over head. People down range would hear the sonic boom of the golf ball as it passed them until air friction slowed it down.

Does a bullet create a mini sonic boom when it’s fired?
