You don’t always have to say yes.

Pre-made cookies and pastries? Are you daft, John?

I’ve always baked extra stuff and keep it in the freezer for “emergencies” like bake sales or unexpected guests. There’s no need to work all night baking, unless I want to. :D

Jesus. Do you think they actually care? All they care about is you bringing the goods – homemade or store doesn’t matter.

John’s description of the events do not exactly match what we have seen. Mike and his buddies were out playing cards at some restaurant where they could walk back home. Elly did not chauffeur them.

My wife, I think I’ll keep her.

John, perception is everything. especially on how you perceive yourself in someone else’s eyes.

She needs a wife. :~)

Memories.

Would I do it again? Have kids?

No.

The only thing the bake sale people really care about is if people are participating in it.

This really was my life. I used to think I could get so much done if I didn’t have to sleep. Looking back on all this now, I wonder how I had the time and energy to do the things I did…but then again, maybe I was just another busy mom!

No problem for me there. I will buy goodies every time. There is no way I am exposing poor innocent children and my neighbors to my cooking.

Make no bake cookies!

The solution would be for John to do more around the house. Dentists don’t keep late hours or bring work home!

Maybe he was waiting for a quickie?

Or you could help John. Then she could get to bed at a reasonable hour. It’s amazing to me how built-in roles are that both men and women don’t even consider that an option.

John, maybe it is time for you to pitch in.

John, she’s a keeper.

Elly only says that because SHE thinks anyone who would do that would be lazy in her book.

If the bake sale is tomorrow, then she puts things off until the last minute. I confess I often do the same…but I work better under pressure ; )

It’s all about appearances.

I’m always amazed at how much work the wife can do.

But seriously, in real life, it is possible to it do all when you are young.

When I look back forty plus years, and when we just started out, we were able to do so many tasks in tandem, that today, I wonder how it was possible, and my husband was “there” all along. He is the middle child of four brothers, and he was always his mother’s helper so he knew how to pitch in, or even take over when needed, without any prompting, and I did the same when he had a project on the go. That’s just covering all the work around and in the house. Then we had our jobs, our own special interests, and going to our events too…

We made sure our kids were brought up with that kind of attitude, so when they moved out on their own, they could “do it all” too.

Nowadays, in retirement, if I complete one special task (outside of the regular upkeep and cooking) by the end of the day, I’m happy about that!

Jenny, you and your good husband are champions.

Last I heard Bake sales are no longer allowed in schools.
