In college I (seldom) met a guy named Bill who read all the texts in the slack time before the term started. He then attended class and listened closely, taking no notes. He never studied other than that, and spend a lot of time doing things like writing musicals for the college theater club, singing with the men’s chorus, running the campus magazine and throwing or attending parties. Those around him tended to flunk out by following his example. He, on the other hand, pulled in scores well above 98% on all his tests.

The only real problem was that he was such a NICE guy that he was hard to hate for breaking the curve…

Isn’t that Jason’s normal method too? I mean he’s usually doing college level work for fun. Studying for a test is absurd for him.

Get him a Latin dictionary. That way he can do all his reports and papers in Latin. Next step in Geekeeness.

I knew a guy who “took” a college-level course in quantum mechanics without ever attending a lecture or reading the book. Well, he already knew the subject.

When he went to take the “final” (one and only) exam, he discovered that they were using a different terminology than what he was familiar with, so he had no idea what the questions were asking.

His solution? Instead of trying to answer the questions, he outlined — in the terminology he knew — what he felt an entry-level quantum-mechanics course should cover.

    He got an A.

Isn’t this the week Jason dedicates to doing all his homework for the coming year? Also, has the threat of Eileen Jacobson doing better than him lost all meaning?

No notes, only skimming assigned reading, and rarely studying… I never knew there was a name for what I did when I was in school.

Isn’t Jason normally in fourth grade? Something tells me Peter isn’t going to be a senior this year…does the “reset button” get pushed next week?

Put your foot down mom and straighten Peter out… oh, that is right, reading, writing and math are no longer testable. Guess Peter is really in trouble. He sucks at football so he can’t even be one of those idiots with no education.

If the schoolwork is too easy for a student they give them more challenging work. That is what they did for my kids 20 years ago.

In high school, my husband (then boyfriend, of course), rarely ever took a book home. And yet, he was in the National Honor Society, and graduated sixth in the class. I took books home every night, studied like a demon, and graduated fifth!

I’m in this picture and I don’t like it.

And no, Ceeg22, Jason’s results would likely not be better.

Peter probably isn’t that much less intelligent than Jason; he just never has enough memory to do his homework properly.
