Admiral Duncan was so focused on swindling the gullible Dutchman into purchasing “the authentic Excalibur,” he didn’t realize that the transaction had witnesses.

Just as the surrender was about to take place, chaos erupted when a young boy flew past the crow’s-nest asking which ship was Captained by James Hook.

Said Admiral Rochambeau/“Cher George, you’ve got them, you know-/ for I and my fleet/ have cut off their retreat/ and assured their defeat- so go !”/// it’s a fact that we often ignore/ and the rabid among us deplore/ but we owe France a debt/ that we’re prone to forget/ but history’s just such a bore../// now Florida’s latest disgrace/ ( we ought to be red in the face!)/ is suppressing- by law – / what we ALL plainly saw/ the historical facts about “race”.

I see this more as a post-performance of the 1812 Overture celebration.

FIRST CHAIR VIOLINIST: “Well done, Maestro! Only 10 dead and 15 injured!”

MAESTRO: We should probably stop selling beer after the 7th inning – I mean after I first raise my baton.

Scamper down to Camperdown/ it’s a town of no renown/ Britons smile, but Dutchmen frown/ when we sing of Camperdown./// Other battles I could mention/ seem to garner more attention/ Camperdown’s a minor clash/ one forgotten in a flash.///Speak to me of Scapa Flow/ Midway’s one that we all know/ Dutch and British? Oh, puhleeze../ could either beat the Japanese?

The elaborate uniforms lent/ to the dignitaries who went/ a spectacular splendor/ Twas a stylish surrender/ and a super-spreader event ! // Their crews/ -an unsavory lot/ whose names are completely forgot/ but who actually fought/ (as poor people ought)/were (as usual), left to rot./// The dead were tossed over the side/ where they savored their final “ ride”/ not far from the boat/ and remaining afloat/ til at last they went out with the tide…(and a good time was had by all.)
