    There use to be scenic overlooks here and there when I was growing up. 20 years later there were just places you could stop and look at the tree’s in the way. They’ve now all been removed. I guess people don’t want to stop and look at nature anymore.

    I think it’s an example of a so-called folly, i.e., a summerhouse or pavilion designed for picturesque effect or to suit a fanciful taste. The wealthier one was, the more annoying the folly.

    It always kills me when I’m at a national park campground and there are people “camping” where all you can hear is their generators, tv or sound system blaring out of their monster RV or trailer. Bet they go home and tell their friends how great it was to get back to nature.
