Drat, my prediction yesterday was wrong again. That makes me 0 out of N, where N = √-1

He does have a point. Several years ago my wife and I went to the top of The Monument in the City of London: 311 steps up, and about 4,607 steps down. It’s not surprising that they give you a certificate when (or if) you get to the bottom again.

When I visited Crater Lake in Oregon, I took the boat ride on the lake itself. The ranger joked that the trail down from the rim to the lake was 1.3 miles, but for the hike back UP, the decimal moved over to 13 miles! I managed to motor on up, huffing and puffing the whole way—he wasn’t wrong!

It’s not the old legs and knees, Adam. It’s the extra 80 pounds you’re packing around the middle. I speak from experience.

Hiking down a steep trail is hard on the knees. Years ago i injured my knee coming down from Church Mt. It seemed to heal and didn’t bother me during any activity until I descended a steep hill. It stayed that way for several years and now seems fine, but I wonder, as I get older, whether that will revisit me.

My “hiking” has been reduced to a monthly trip to Walmart.

Going down a steep hill is hard for anyone with aging knees or knee injuries.

I always wondered why people said uphill was harder than down. Downhill is much harder as your foot tries to roll over your toes. Shoes. THAT’s why they think downhill is easier!

Adam hates this. I love it! But, I do understand his gripe about old knees since I’m also in that advanced age group.

Still, “stay away from the cliff edge” is good advise on an any ARC or at anytime….
