I congratulation Lynn Johnston for a very well-placed Lynn signature in the final panel. We readers don’t want to see what was under that “Lynn”.

If I were them, I’d have trouble sleeping in my new place, at least for the first few nights. The old place just has too many memories attached to it to be abandoned quickly.

When my parents moved from a 5-bedroom house to a 1-bedroom senior apartment, they had no trouble sleeping. They could sleep anywhere…as long as they were together.

We moved when I was one year old, when I was 3, 10, 12, and 18. This seems to have set a pattern for my life. I’m currently living at my 20th address. Everywhere has seemed like home, so I’ve never had trouble adjusting.

we are down sizing. We only use a tiny bit of our house. I will miss my yard though. It is huge and wonderful and a lot of work.

Third panel with churchy window between them nicely evokes a new wedding.

Now they will have to get used to new traffic noises. New building creaks and groans. New noises from the neighbors. And they had the old place so broken-in too. Knew what every noise was. And where everything was too.

The only difference now is that he’ll be in the bathroom crying.

Did you carry the bride over the threshold? Oh, right; that wouldn’t have been good on your back…

Funny how often you end up where you started. Small home with not a lot to big home with too much to small home with not a lot.

Life does come full cycle. When I first started out on my own, I had a small 1 bdrm apartment in Greenwich Village ( rent-controlled, I might add ), and for many years lived in apartments or condos.

When I finally decided to settle down I bought a large 3 bdrm house and for 35 years lived in fairly good-sized homes.

Now, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve downsized. We converted the ground floor of our small home in the city into an office/guest accommodation, built a compact 2 bdrm apartment for ourselves on the 1st floor, and a 2nd-floor covered-roof terrace. Our apartment is about the same size as the “railroad car” apartment I started out with almost 60 years ago, in the Village!

It’s good that they now have a small place with barely any storage. It helps prevent accumulating stuff they don’t need.

My mom’s name is Marian. When my parents moved from their custom built house in Oregon to a condo in Massachusetts, I clipped this and sent it to them!
