Doesn’t seem too long ago JJ broached this same subject and we hashed out the advantages and disadvantages of candles, lanterns, etc. and what to do in long term losses.
Dark night joke: leaving Arlo and Janis to their own devices…Drunk staggering home, shortcut through cemetery, stumbles into open grave. Damp clay sides deeper than he is tall, or can reach, he soon wears out from trying to climb the walls and curls up in a corner. Second walker stumbles in and tries to climb the slick clay walls. The first hears the noise and tries to tap the second on the shoulder as he says "You can’t …. " But He Did …
That was like my wife and I before kids, after kids, power went out, well kids became bed mates, or game night by lantern and flashlights. Come to think about those days, miss both…..
Here – electricity goes out – husband paces and says “Never coming on again, have to throw everything in freezer and fridge out! We really have to buy a generator” I call electric co and talk to their computer. If we are lucky the electricity comes back on same day. If not, well, 4 days plus is not uncommon. Hurricane Isaias we were lucky and it was back that night – many people were out for over 2 weeks.
They have to get rid of the big trees and replace with short ones which will not fall over and take down the lines.

How many people still have candles? Sure you can use your smartphone as a flashlight, but how ya gonna recharge it?

Use your phone light to find the candles. I hated trying to find a flashlight in the dark. Today’s phones solved my problem.
