Most Republicans can’t even bring themselves to wash their hands and wear a mask. they claim it’s “unmanly”. Ban military assault type weapons? No, no, no. D. Trump does not approve.

The people who argue that we should not discuss gun control after a mass shooting remind me of the guy with a leaky roof who argues that when it is raining it’s too wet to fix, and when it’s dry it’s just as good as any man’s house.

Two years ago Boulder passed a law banning assault weapons. The NRA sued. On March 12 Boulder County District Court Judge Andrew Hartman ruled that the 2018 ban by Boulder authorities violated Colorado state law and must be struck down. On March 16 the shooter bought an AR-556 semi-automatic which would have been banned under the law because it could use external magazines. 6 days later 10 people died in Boulder Colorado!

Only one advanced nation tolerates the slaughter of its citizens with few apologies for incidents occurring and doing nothing to little to remove the weapons commonly used for the same.

Of course the US needs effective gun control legislation. But in addition, there’s something wrong with American culture, something that promotes the idea that there’s something manly about shooting people.

Clay how would you write the law ? Ban new sales, registration , grandfather or buy back or confiscate privately owned weapons and magazines. The penalties for owning guns and mags would have to exceed those used to dissuade drugs users since they don’t work. Refilling prisons with gun owners would be a place to start…do we have 15,000,000 empty cell or a shit load of body bags. This party will make Jan6th look like a kids Chucky Cheese party. Nationwide police dept. are culling right leaning officers replacing them with good little Nazis to attempted the confiscation campaign. Gun violence is a real issue in America running to our respective corners, we need to find middle ground before it’s to late. Our Nation will split in two with a wrong move. Tread Lightly

Very good Mr Bennett. A majority of Americans support a ban on assault weapons. What is it with Republicans (whose mantra is about pro life), that stops them from enacting the will of the majority?

While mass shootings have largely been absent from the public discourse over the past year, gun violence has not. Shootings surged during the pandemic, and public health issues like suicide and domestic violence were exacerbated by the trauma, isolation and economic upheaval caused by COVID-19.

There is a reason that nearly every American will know at least one victim of gun violence in their lifetime. There is a reason that Americans are 25 times more likely to be killed in a gun homicide than people in other high-income countries. We’re a nation awash in guns and lacking adequate laws to protect us from gun violence.

I’m not in favor of banning ALL guns…..just the effing guns that are MEANT to kill lotsa people in the LEAST amt of time! AND without having to have any prior knowledge/experience with said gun! You gun owners can have any guns that the forefathers had in mind when they included the 2nd amendment as part of our freedoms but assault rifles tweren’t one of’em! That is all. Thank you.

The NRA controls the USA because of their donations to presidential aspirants and the fact that all the 1% are members. The NRA started as a “gun safety” organization. Now they push keeping the “gun safety” off so you can kill someone faster. The NRA is also involved with the KKK and white supremacists.

Assault weapons, along with all fully automatic weapons, have been banned since 1933. The AR15 is not an assault weapon.
