The question is not whether human beings can kill other human beings. We do this with great regularity and even reward some who are especially proficient at it by giving them medals, parades, and other forms of reward. The real question is theological. When does God place a soul in a human being? It is this soul that provides sanctity for the life of each human being.

Unregulated capitalism leads to formula shortages. 4 companies make almost all the baby formula in the U.S. When Abbott had to close a plant 40% of formula production was stopped. We need regulations to guarantee competition, not monopoly!

Justice Gorsuch is now a Catholic-lite, aka Episcopalian. Justice Sotomayor is also Catholic but does not need to confess. These six justices now rule our laws. We condemn the Taliban!!!

Forget about “fair share”! How about “any share”? in 2020 more than 50 major U.S. companies paid no – as in zero – tax. This included corporations like Nike and Fed Ex. These 50+ companies also received $3.5B in tax rebates. Is that what you mean by “fair share”, Chip! https://www.forbes.com/sites/tommybeer/2021/04/02/more-than-50-major-us-corporations-including-nike-and-fedex-paid-no-federal-taxes-last-year/?sh=2245deb321d3

If you had a “vote by mail” elections system like the one in Colorado and several other states; if you had redistricting done by an impartial committee; if you had same day registration and voting – then you might have an election that really represented the people. That’s democracy. And that’s when you put abortion to a vote!

We are watching the Taliban-ification of America. Like the Taliban’s misinterpretation of Islam, so too is the misinterpretation of the five SCOTUS justices of Catholic teaching. These justices are pro-birth, not pro-life. In 2004, in an interview with Bill Moyers, Sr. Joan Chittister explained the difference. “I do not believe that just because you are opposed to abortion, that that makes you pro-life. In fact, I think in many cases, your morality is deeply lacking if all you want is a child born but not a child fed, a child educated, a child housed. … That’s not pro-life. That’s pro-birth. We need a much broader conversation on what the morality of pro-life is.” Thanks Rob!!!

Men can kill to defend themselves. They can kill to defend the state. They can punish by killing in the name of the state. But women, never — not even to save their own pregnant life. It seems to me to be morally confused. Certainly, it’s morally inconsistent."

Senator Elizabeth Warren said we have to go back over 100 years when the U.S. instituted free K-12 public education. Because of that we developed the best educated work force in the world and that paid for the free public education over and over. Today, K-12 education is not enough. Workers need skills that can only be gotten through advanced technical training or 2 year community college or 4 year college or university. And that should be free. If we fail to do this we will soon have a workforce that is not educated nor prepared for the 21st century.

Pulitzer Winner & Combat Journalist Chris Hedges provides facts for Ted’s cartoon in this article:“Rulers divide the world into worthy and unworthy victims, those we are allowed to pity, such as Ukrainians enduring the hell of modern warfare, and those whose suffering is minimized, dismissed, or ignored. The terror we and our allies carry out against Iraqi, Palestinian, Syrian, Libyan, Somali and Yemeni civilians is part of the regrettable cost of war. We, echoing the empty promises from Moscow, claim we do not target civilians. Rulers always paint their militaries as humane, there to serve and protect. Collateral damage happens, but it is regrettable. – Worthy and Unworthy Victimshttps://scheerpost.com/2022/03/07/chris-hedges-worthy-and-unworthy-victims/
