Many animals are more humane than some humans.

It’s a real shame for the human race how some of us are treating (their) animals.

the nitwit next door got himself a french bulldog, lord knows why. he ‘walks’ it by dragging it stumbling down the street behind him, straining not to get strangled by the collar. i want to put the d*ckhead in that crate…

Don’t forget to withhold adequate food, water, and sanitation. We want him to experience the whole “lifestyle”, so don’t even think about a gentle touch or a kind word.(starting to sound like a 3rd world jail, isn’t it?)

We had a rescue mini-chihuahua that was like that. If it wasn’t for our own mini the rescue probably would never accepted us. Unfortunately she never fully recovered and the pain was too much for her.

We tried to rescue a dog in a similar situation (no fleas). So sad!

One can only imagine how anyone like that would also treat children.

People who mistreat animals are just not right in the head. Not really fit to interact with humans either. They display a basic lack of right and wrong, and an emotional capability to inflict pain and suffering.

You look at a person capable of such cruelty and have to wonder how he/she treats the humans in their lives.

This week the laws against animal cruelty were upgraded here. They are a higher class felony, include substantial jail time, prohibit animal ownership or interaction and cannot be plea bargained down to a lesser charge. Hooray

..and hereyou see an illustration of just one facet of suffering I deal with (neglect). whether I’m working with the police or a neighbor/family member ‘turn in’.. they are legally surrendered to me, I get any/all paperwork, and the dog gets a “fur-ever” home! those (most) overcome their emotional and/or physical abuse & become certified Therapy Dogs, giving back to help others <3 however, sometimes the health issues or brutal abuse was too extensive..they still get to know love, care, and safety, for whatever time they have before getting their ‘silver wings’ :-)

I understand the message, the second and third panels were unnecessary, however. There is enough cruelty in the world that I just don’t need to see it in the comic strips.

And that’s why I prefer animals to some people.

All but 3 of our cats came from the streets. One was a failed foster (her adoptive family abused her & took her back to the shelter when she bit), one came from our vet, and one belonged to a friend’s grandma, who passed away.
