I was bemused by the hate posts toward Dez (as usual).

I am a published ebook author. I have seven novels in publication and am currently working on my eighth. Certainly not on the NYT bestseller list but I do successfully sell my books. I personally don’t worry about how many words I write per day. I set vague goals; for example, this newest work is convoluted with many working parts so I intend to publish it by summer of next year. A lot of writing fiction is internal, figuring out your characters and plot timelines, and researching your facts. I interview people to obtain information or insight. That being said, maybe Luann needs to see the facts to break down the task and make it seem less overwhelming.

Funny how so many can only see this in a romantic way. Think about it. She thanked Ox nicely for being her hero. Do you think she’s never going to see him again? In the meantime she’s supposed to convalesce. So, what? She’s supposed to go home with a guy she hardly knows and never dated? Or invite him to her home to “take care of her”? Would you, really? Just because she wants to go home with Les doesn’t mean she chose him to be her romantic partner. She probably chose him because he and Gunther are both friends and she looks at Las as almost family. Hopefully she does have Irma/Mr Grey in mind. But the decision wasn’t made in a romantic light or as awarding her “favors”.

My husband set traps in the garage for field mice, but the crickets keep eating the peanut butter.

You may recall that the last time the roommates were angry at Staff’s behavior, Kip played on their sympathies by pleading how her actions were a result of her insecurities. Then everyone felt bad, offered sympathy and made concessions for her, in general sang kumbiyah. I kind of expect him to do this again. It doesn’t make him a nice guy, a hero or a protector. It makes him an enabler and a manipulator. Having pressures or insecurities, or coming from a disadvantaged background, is not justification for bad behavior, nor should it be a get out of jail free card. Kip has never been bothered by his girlfriend’s actions, as the towel incident proved.
