His statement belies him. On the surface, his claim is that of an optimist. However, a true optimist would be able to see or find the positive(s) in (almost) any situation.
The positives are plentiful. They are shown in the acts of people who instinctively try to improve or brighten the lives of sufferers. The pity is, it took a pandemic to bring that intrinsic human trait back to the surface. Hope it does not fade into disuse when the current crises has passed . . . as much as it is going to.
And the stunning scientific achievement of inventing, developing and bringing to market 2 vaccines – man made, that are nearly 100% EFFECTIVE IN PREVENTING DEATH.
