1137 was a terrible year for the wretched people.

How crude were our tools of punishment and pain. We are so much more civilized now.

What secrets lay beneath my stair

    Surely my neighbor can’t compare

What bones and whispers rattle there

I hold them barely with a prayer

Until time comes to cast them claire

And remake them into plumage flair

It was only then that residents decided to return their library books in a more timely fashion…

…the early draft of dr. Seuss’s Green Eggs and Ham left much to be desired…

…he staired into the distance …

…down the hill and out the beach…

…Jacob’s ladder is really a stairway to heaven…

…the gist of it better translated as stairs..

he is certainly talented when performing his balancing act to display the tread, riser, and stringers on one shoulder

And in some, they put uneven, mis-spaced stairs, or stairs with an unnatural riser height or tread depth, and in this way did cause them great discomfort and the occasional fall.

I think what’s missing is the plan for the gallows.

    “Yesterday, upon the stair,

    I met a man who wasn’t there!

    He wasn’t there again today,

Oh how I wish he’d go away!"

When I came home last night at three,

The man was waiting there for me

But when I looked around the hall,

I couldn’t see him there at all!

Go away, go away, don’t you come back any more!

Go away, go away, and please don’t slam the door…

Last night I saw upon the stair,

A little man who wasn’t there,

    He wasn’t there again today

    Oh, how I wish he’d go away….

The ultimate torture: opening a product sealed in plastic … some call it wrap rage, but it’s torture nonetheless …!

A rather tortured comparison of sentence vs stairway construction.

Conjunctions, articles, nouns. Does the riser height meet code?

When I build stairs, I lay the stringers in my room and approach it like an art project and make careful measurements.

This is GoComics. And another comic here appears, called Scary Gary, about a reformed vampire, soft, fat, and suburban, by name Gary. All villainy comes through his henchman and housemate, the little green cannibalistic mutant, Leopold. This Leopold has a basement lab and dungeon in their house. And beneath the stairs down to the lab and dungeon is The Thing That Lives Beneath the Stairs, mysterious, unseen except for its glowing eyes.

So, of this guy we see here, who reads both Frog Applause and Scary Gary, his glum expression is the face of his depression, with tortures and stairs and dungeons and stares both here and there!

I guess that giraffe killer really needed that heart because she clearly does not have one.
