The Republican party is quickly splintering into multiple factions:

    • The moderate Republicans and “never Trumpers” who could not bring themselves to support an abomination against every principle their party ever stood for in the past, such as standing up against Russia or any hostile adversary, smaller government, reducing deficits, support for law enforcement including the FBI and capitol police, support our troops in the field instead of ignoring hostile adversaries who put bounties of them, free Trade and so much more. I certainly did not agree with many of their political standards, but at least they had them.

    • The principled conservatives who may have supported Trump as the “lesser of evils” but, when he commits gross treason and incites violent, armed insurrection, agree he must be impeached and convicted.

    • The two-faced cowardly Republicans who could not support impeachment in the House or conviction in the Senate, but then go on record saying that he is guilty but someone else should handle it (the forked-tongued turtles who say Trump could not be tried after leaving office, despite extensive precedent to the contrary, but were the ones who prevented the trial from starting while he was in office — lookin’ at you, #MoscowMitch).

    • The wacko extremist TrumpubliQan fringe Qonspiracy theorists who form the core of Trump cult worshippers, who are enough to dominate the Republican Party but, on their own, not enough to win elections except in the reddest of red districts.

Maybe now it is time for the Republican Party to divide into two or three parties and see how well each can do without the others.

Just for poop and giggles, I’d recommend the DC graphic novel series “Injustice, God’s Among Us”. Superman loses Lois Lane and the city of Metropolis. In response, he goes full authoritarian literally taking over the planet in the name of peace, justice and his own way. Trouble is, he keeps torturing and murdering anyone who disagrees with his “regime”, gradually changing from revulsion to enthusiastic enforcement of what he feels is best for the planet. If you ever wondered what Superman would be as a full blown rethugican, this long series displays it nicely.

I never thought he was in the Republican party. After all, he was truly the epitome of an “Illegal Alien”, who cared deeply for his adopted country, who seemed to have accepted him despite his having no legal immigration papers and not following the rules. I think the only reason Republicans couldn’t deport him is because they don’t have the technology and he literally didn’t have a place to be deported back to, although they probably could have sent him to Guatemala. Keeping him out would have been an issue though, and they’d have had to employ Batman to keep tabs on him.

U.S. standing in the world took a massive hit after the financial tsunami the past decade. President Obama was able to restore much of the world’s faith. Then former president Trump totally trashed U.S. standing again and other nations see how so many in the the Bananastan Republic of America still cling to cult worship over American ideals. Trust may never be restored.

A Facebook post of the former (not confirmed resigned yet) Mayor of Colorado City TX.:

“No one owes you or your family anything; nor is it the local governments responsibility to support you during trying times like this! Sink or swim, it’s your choice! The City and County, along with power providers or any other service owes you NOTHING!”

“I’m sick and tired of people looking for a damn hand out! If you don’t have electricity you step up and come up with a game plan to keep your family warm and safe. If you have no water you deal without and think outside of the box to survive and supply water to your family,” Boyd continued. “If you were sitting at home in the cold because you have no power and are sitting there waiting for someone to come rescue you because your lazy is direct result of your raising! Only the strong will survive and the week will perish.”

Boyd wrote that people expecting water and electricity during the winter storms are “sadly a product of a socialist government where they feed people to believe that the FEW work and others will become dependent for handouts.”

“Bottom line,” Boyd concluded, “quit crying and looking for a handout! Get off your ass and take care of your own family!”

This is a fine example of the real Rethugican mindset. A world lacking in compassion, empathy, or even humanity. Even though you pay taxes, pay for utilities, you can expect NOTHING! This is the “law” Rethugicans demand respect for.. The law of the jungle.

Truth / Justice and American Way are a fine example of an oxymoron if there ever was one. Certainly the world has seen a pretty extreme example of truth and justice abused over the last 4 odd years.. but American history has many examples of less than stellar.. truth or justice.

Superman cannot be a Republican. After all, he’s an alien (from another planet, no less). He had no visa, no passport, and no valid authorization to enter our country. Deporting him is problematic since we don’t have the technology to send him back where he came from. Of course, his home planet blew up years ago, but that’s his problem not ours. Am I right? /s

This is not the image of Superman that the Republican party of today wants to see or would ever tolerate, let alone promote – https://i.imgur.com/rMdA0Yc.jpg It’s been said before & elsewhere that the GQP should drop the elephant mascot and adopt the far more appropriate jellyfish. Jellyfish have no spine, no brain, they’re slimy, and they’ll sting anybody who gets near to them. Sounds ’bout as good a mascot as they deserve.

The GOP has been, for decades, quarter cup hierarchy, quarter cup libertarianism, quarter cup racism, quarter catchall cup of everyone else not white, christian, and male human animal. (Not a thought for nonhuman animals or plant life. Rene Descartes attitude.)[I could be off on the amounts.]

Sorry for being off topic, but I figured we should make note of the half-million milestone as, once again today, we set another …

New World Record in Ball Dropping

2020-01-07 • Presidential Daily Brief: “Analysts concluded [coronavirus] could be a cataclysmic event.” • Trump did nothing.

    2020-03-11 • WHO declared a global pandemic.

2020-04-15 • While continuing to lie about the pandemic, Trump suspended US funding of WHO.

    2021-02-17 • US coronavirus deaths: 500,038 (57 weeks after PDB; 8773/week)

     For comparison …

    1941-12-07 • Pearl Harbor attack: 2,403

2001-09-11 • terrorist attacks: 2,977 (5 weeks after PDB warned Bush about it)

    Korean War (33,686) + Vietnam War (58,220) + Afghan War (7,970): 99,876

    WW1: 116,516 (83 weeks for US; 1403/week)

    WW2: 418,500 (195 weeks for US; 2146/week)

    Civil War: ~620,000 (213 weeks; 2911/week)

    Spanish flu: ~675,000 (~117 weeks; 5769/week)
