I found this comic several months ago when I was looking for something different. I found it so entertaining that I went back to the first episode on gocomics.com and got caught up.Thank you for such a great comic!
Are there any French readers here? Years ago I met a French woman who with her children were fascinated and a bit terrified one night by fireflies. Her husband was on a temporary work assignment in the US, and she told me that they had never seen them in France. So I wonder if it’s true that fireflies aren’t found in Europe?
According to Google "Fireflies aren’t to be found in France everywhere south of the Loire. Despite having spent a lot of time in southern France, I seldom saw any, and only very down south. They seem to live only in certain areas.’

Stick with the science-fiction instead. It’s more fun.

So, if you put a large mirror on the ground, you’ld really be messing with the males, huh?

Some predators mess with the males by pretending to be females, mimicking the male’s flash pattern, then devouring him when he comes looking for love.

Would “apparently” be an acceptable substitution? (BTW- the throw-away panel had me intrigued. But no go – stop teasing us nerds!)

Maybe this is my inner nerd-child but I don’t really find this ruining the mood at all. It feels pretty magical either way.
