I rented a place that was a real bargain with an ocean view. It was later I noticed the lock jamb in the door had been completely replaced. Nobody but emergency services breaks open a locked door like that. It also explained the reddish brown stains on the backside of one set of wood-toned Venetian blinds. The landlord confirmed there had been a suicide. But … it was a great place with a deck, three blocks from the ocean. I never lost a wink of sleep.

I’ve been in one of those places before. When we found the bullet holes in the wall, we left.
