Interesting, Lyra is a new one for me. But I’d still like them to come out with a voice activated thingy that I can name myself. That way instead of saying “Google, read me the news” I can say:

    “What’s news, pussycat? Woah, woah”

Google responds to “okay google” or “hey google”. But it is really just activated by “a-goo”.

My daughter got an Alexa as a gift from her job, it is in the cupboard hidden, too scary she says!

A lot of different voices. An actual smart house would hold only one voice.

Now which one of those can shed light on the news telling you the right temperature to bake a pizza in a Peruvian movie theater?

Umpteen different voice activated devices that operate via wifi, all the rage. But not in this house! For me, that’s technology overkill.

I’ve heard stories of the different voice-activated systems talking to each other with no human prompting. That’s horror movie scary.

I recently learned that Alexa will fart on command. If you have one and you find farts funny, you might find yourself laughing right out loud while your dog looks at you like you are a nut. Now I am curious what else Alexa can do. I have a Show, so if someone else has one and calls me on it, we can see each other. I can also watch Netflix on it. Not sure what else, I am still pretty new with it and don’t play with it often. Music, sometimes. Ask about the weather.

When I have an Android and an iOS “listening” at the same time, I can get some weird responses. I once said, “Ok Google.” but heard no response, so I said “Hey, Siri”. Siri booped but the Android device said, “I can do my Siri impression if you want to hear it. I also do dogs.” True story.

Personally, I believe the Stepford Wives were much prettier. And someone on TV said “Alexa” and her reply scared the hell out of this 77 year old lad.

Our Siri would order pizza, provided she gets her fair share. That’s ok – since she’s only 10 she won’t eat that much.
