Well, at least red pandas don’t have to worry about their relatives dropping in for an unexpected visit.

Think of all those poor climbers who climbed the old Everest, who will now have to climb the new Everest which is two feet higher, if they want to say they have climb the highest mountain in the world.

Not quite sure how to interpret the red panda assertion. There are two varieties of them to begin with:

“Contrary to the previously held belief that only one species of red panda is found in India, Indian scientists have established that India is home to both the Himalayan Red Panda (HRP) and the Chinese Red Panda (CRP).” —India Times

and other sources assert that “The giant panda is more closely related to a bear, while the red panda’s next of kin is a raccoon or skunk. Scientists have long debated the red panda’s classification; currently, the creature is the only member of the family Ailuridae.”

Note the family name is the same word regarding cats, as ailurophile.

Which gives you an idea of how vicious red pandas can be…

Of course red pandas have living relatives. Most of them have both a father and a mother still living, in fact.

I guess red pandas are only children and lost their parents…

About the red panda. It depends on how broadly one interprets the word “relative”. The superfamily to which it belongs includes skunks, raccoons and weasels.

So is the red panda’s mom dead when she gives birth? And where’s the papa? Do female red pandas kill their mates when then they mate like praying mantises?

Walt saw a child on a small ride. He thought, “I could make that a lot bigger.” Well… yes.

The statement about the red panda needs clarification. If you go back in the phylogenetic tree, you can find any two species of animals are related. How far back from the red panda does one go to find a branch that does have living relatives at some point? Genus? Family? For sure, it would happen before one reaches “animal kingdom.”
