My dad died from pancreatic cancer a little over two years ago. It’s a pretty painful way to go (and he refused morphine until the very end). RIP, Alex.

I don’t remember what quiz show it was, but a contestant automatically gave the answer in the form of a question. The host then said “Please give your answer in the form of an answer.” We’ll miss you, Trebek.

I understand that his last show will air on December 25th. It’s the end of Christmas Day, so I’m hoping that date is accurate.

Highest respect for Alex Trebek — for running a smart show, for his unfailing respectful treatment of his guests, and for how he approached this horrific disease in public.

Alex also hosted numerous times the Canadian Geographic Challenge, the national student geography competition. Not for money or fame but to encourage high school students to learn more about the world. He was made the Honorary President of The Royal Canadian Geographical Society and was one of the planet’s biggest champions of geographic knowledge and education. https://www.canadiangeographic.ca/article/remembering-alex-trebek

Many people are unaware that Alex Trebek hosted other game shows aside from Jeopardy!, including The Wizard of Odds, Double Dare, High Rollers, Battlestars, Classic Concentration, and To Tell the Truth.

Back when they used to do Jeopardy tryouts in person, not on the computer, I qualified locally 4 times out of 5, then went to the big city (Chicago) to try at a higher level, qualified twice there, but never got a call back. Would have loved to have met Alex in person.

I was only 2 degrees separated from Alex. I performed in community theater with someone who was on Jeopardy (or would that be one degree of separation?).
