Rall: Proponent of not first getting elected and then doing as much good as possible. Because he’s not showing us the effect of another victory for the Trumpists who want to actively make things worse.

So I guess since Biden isn’t good enough, we should stick with the other option which is not only “not good enough”, but actively evil, corrupt and traitorous!

But I guess we’ll go around and around talking about Biden’s shortcomings because Ted doesn’t like talking about the 200,000 people murdered by Il Douche, or the ongoing crimes against humanity still going on on our Southern border.

Go ahead, Rall, tell us that Biden and Harris would be in favor of the current program of forcing eugenics on refugees. I dare you!

Disgraceful anti democracy Trump and his anti human revolution has destroyed 50 years of environmental regulation without a vote so the republicans can destroy the world even faster.

4 more years of Trump will end the earth.

So Rall believes we all die if Biden gets in. Does that mean climate change will “miraculously” go away if Trump is re-elected?

as long as the world population grows, the demand for resources, energy , living space , farm land will increase. so no green energy plan (though a great idea) will change all the issues about global warming. land and food needs will still increase beyond the ability of the world to deliver. Having solar panels in the US will not help rural peoples of the 3rd world. who must burn wood to heat and cook their food. we are harvesting more of the fish species than we did 20 yrs ago with high efficiency fishing fleets. how long do you think the oceans can stand that pressure? we must address population growth first. maybe with world leaders declaring a 1 for 1 birth /death rate. I feel smarter minds (than simple ole me) should start looking into solutions quickly before it becomes unmanageable.

Do the math-by 2050 the Justice trump nominates to fill RBG seat will still be on the Supreme Court, in the next four years there are likely three additional seats with the new judges also likely to be on the Court until 2050. A conservative Court will strike down any/all Green New Deal laws since that in the Justices’ view violate personal/corporate freedoms.

Rail, you have descended into a miserable pit of Absolutist Idiocy. Nobody in this world is perfect- but some people are definitely more dangerous to the health and safety of others- and the planet. Isn’t even a small step going in the right direction better than just giving up, or going backwards?

WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT?!?! I used to think tRall was a libertarian. Then I thought he might be a Bernie Bro. Then I thought he might be an eco-dreamer. Now, I just think he wants the world to put him out of his misery (and take the rest of us with him). Or maybe his strip has been taken over by a Rooshan bot – ever notice how similar “trall” is to “troll”?

Again Rall blames Biden, because he’s not Bernie for all the ills that will befall us if he is elected. I wait with bated breath for Rall’s commentary on the 200,000 Americans that Trump has actually killed. That’s more than U. S. fatalities in the last five wars. That’s the equivalent to 66 days of 9/11. Quid enim stercore capitis

Logical fallacy of the day: Perfect Solution fallacy aka Nirvana fallacy.

I love when people use logical fallacies. It makes me feel good about myself ethically. But perfect solution fallacy is blatantly obvious as being deceptive (in comparison to other logical fallacies) and therefore less likely to manipulate people. I recommend going with false equivalence in the future. People tend to fall for it more readily. You get more bang for the buck.

Ted is right. David Wallace-Wells wrote a book – The Uninhabitable Earth – filled with recent research showing a much more dystopian future than we realize. Naomi Oreskes has long questioned why climate models and predictions are so much more optimistic than the data that is produced. Her latest book is “Why Trust Science?” For years Dahr Jamail had a monthly update on Anthropomorphic Climate Disruption. He stopped in 2019 saying that our dystopian future was now. He wrote a book about how to accept it – The End of Ice: Bearing Witness and Finding Meaning in the Path of Climate Disruption". Elizabeth Kolbert in 2014 wrote “The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History”. And Guy McPherson, professor emeritus U of Arizona, leads a group of scientists that fear human extinction could occur by 2026.

Finally, the National Snow & Ice Data Center reported that Arctic sea ice likely reached its annual minimum extent of 3.74 million square kilometers (1.44 million square miles). The minimum ice extent is the second lowest in the 42-year-old satellite record. They caution that it was still possible for climatic conditions to make it the lowest. Meanwhile, massive wildfires fed by thawing permafrost and peat continue to burn across Siberia.

So, thanks Ted for cartooning truth to power!

So… when it comes to the environment, an analogy

Currently we (as a society) are in a car driving towards a cliff at 80mph.

    Republicans – “Lets drive faster!”

Democrats – “Well… maybe we can slow down to 60mph”

Either way we are going over the cliff. For all of you fools that keep posting “But Ted, you are supporting Trump by attacking Biden”…. Who the #@$ cares? Either way we are going over the cliff. The ground is already crumbling under us.

Why is it so hard to understand Ted’s perspective of “the only option is supporting someone who wants to stop us from going over the cliff. All other options are equally unacceptable”

I don’t want to hear “But Biden is better”… I’m not going to say “yipee, my kids are going to die in an uninhabitable world in their 50s, rather than in their 30s!!”. I don’t want them to die at all.

Again – if the (cough, cough) ‘progressives’ had voted for Gore instead of Nader, we wouldn’t be in this predicament because Gore recognized that climate change was an impending disaster. Florida would have gone to Gore easily. But no, they were too ‘pure’ and we got Dubya. They were too ‘pure’ and we got Trump. Learn from history or repeat the mistakes.

OK, all you in there with Rall. What are your recommendations for what should be done? If your evaluation of the climate dangers facing H. sapiens are accurate, then there is no hope for a future of this species, and we will (and are already) taking down a number of other species with us. I’m pushing 80, so I won’t be seeing much more of this extinction event. I’d like to be able to think that my grandkids, just starting college now, have a future, but I am beginning to despair. The species got to the level it has now because of its ability to form cooperative social units. Can a global social unit be formed in time to rescue H. sapiens or will we be in the dust bin of evolutionary history after a short but significant blaze of success that precipitated the 6th extinction event on earth.

The planet doesn’t care whether there are humans or not, only we humans care, and obviously not enough. If we disappear, nature will quickly overrun all we have built. There are many documentaries and books out there on this subject. I read ‘The World Without Us’ by Alan Weissman several years ago. It was heartening to learn that life would go on and quite well without humans.

If trump is reelected and gets to fill Breyer’s, Alito’s and Thomas’s seats their will be NO M4A,Green New Deal, legal abortions, birth right citizenship for the next 30 years. ALL progressive measures will be struck down as unConstitutional. If Biden is elected he may be able to shorten the period to 10 years-by filling those three seats.

Democrats, left unperturbed by revolution, might extend human civilization for an additional few weeks or months before the ecosystem we require utterly collapses. I wonder if that’s a significant enough period of time to increase the chances that benevolent aliens will rescue us. Probably not. Deus ex machina of impossible breakthroughs or artificial intelligence are close to equally likely. But revolution seems unlikely before the vast majority come to understand that we are about to be inconvenienced to death by warming. I will vote ‘the other guy’ for the pleasure of flicking a booger into Trump’s eye, but without hope that it will deny the approach of the cliff’s edge already under the balls of our feet. No one knows how all will play out, but all the evidence supports the cartoon as drawn. Revolution is required, but it seems that most of us will not be moved. How to form up?

Ah…what’s the point of living. Poor Rall, even if the Glorious Revolution was to sweep through today it couldn’t turn back the tide of disaster without the help of the magic unicorns of the Fairytale Land Army. He now has but one purpose. He must live long enough to be able walk the desolate streets with his lantern crying out, “Biden bad”. Sure, sometimes the local Brown Shirts or the Gestapo hassle him for laughs; but they know he’s harmless, and they are busy looking for any enemies of the people and making sure the “Jews will not replace us”.
