He has the Senate in his pocke… not really. Maybe kind of the reverse? Well in any case, he knows he’s immune to effective rebuke and he totally ignores whatever the law might be.

That sums up his world view. When he “won” the Presidency, he won the country. It’s his, just like his companies, and he can do anything he wants with it. The government and the people in it are his, the white house is his, Air Force One is his, all to do with as he wishes. We have an ignorant, incompetent, delusional fool in charge who is doing to the country what he did with his companies. The US system is strong, but I don’t see how our form of government can survive 4 more years of the mismanagement and deliberate destruction by him and his enablers and manipulators.

He’s wrong, as usual. It’s not his house. It’s the people’s house. It’s the house we provide for the person elected to serve us, We, the people!!! We own that house. We have the power to fire a bad employee, we have the power to evict a terminated employee from the premises. We have the power!!! But, only if we use it. VOTE BLUE!!! Use the power to vote him out. If he has 4 more years, he will take away more than just your right to vote.

I guess putting a MAGA hat on the middle finger avoids this comic being classified as portraying an obscene gesture. That reminds me of my summer job in 1972 at a drive-in movie theater. After midnight they showed XXX movies, but the men always wore black socks, so that they weren’t “nude”.

The Democrats have always let the Republicans get away with the dubiously legal crap they pull when in office. This is possible because the Republicans cooperate by attempting to cover it up first. Once the Democrats are back in power, they have to try to accomplish something before they lose that power, and they have to have to try to get along with the Republicans who are still in the Senate and HofR in order to do that. No Republican is innocent, even those who just went along to get along. And, the Democrats realize that exposing governmental misconduct does not inspire confidence in the government, either from American voters or from the world as a whole.Trump is a whole different situation. First, there is nothing remotely dubious about whether his activates are illegal. Second, he not only doesn’t attempt to cover them up, he announces them on television, on tape. Of course, he probably is covering some things up, which is mind boggling, since what he brags about it pretty awful. At any rate, the Democrats are put in the position of being unable to ignore Trump’s illegal activates. If they do, they align themselves with the “go along to get along” crowd. That undermines any remaining confidence in our entire government, and creates a situation that scares them more than the results of letting the Republicans get what they deserve.

Trump held a hate fest on the WH lawn behind a huge fence, branded the WH with his name, blamed Biden for the riots, looting and murders on his watch and totally ignored covid.

Is the Republican destruction of everything we hold dear over yet?

Dump has shown us a problem with the Presidency. Namely, that just what can be done against a president that violates laws and accepted procedures? We have the impeachment process, but that is so laborious and often unwieldy that we wonder why bother. This is especially true when the presidents party is strongly represented in the Senate so removal from office is practically impossible. Other than the Congress, there is no policing of the presidency except for the ballot box. But, that doesn’t occur but once in 4 years. The nation has to endure 4 years of mismanagement before it can get the necessary change. Dump’s mismanagement in particular has killed well over 170,000 people from the Covid virus. Racism in on the rise. Our economy is in shambles. Faith in our nation is the lowest. Sad.

“It was miraculous. It was almost no trick at all, he saw, to turn vice into virtue and slander into truth, impotence into abstinence, arrogance into humility, plunder into philanthropy, thievery into honor, blasphemy into wisdom, brutality into patriotism, and sadism into justice. Anybody could do it; it required no brains at all. It merely required no character.” ― Joseph Heller, Catch-22

The president and vice president are excluded from the Hatch Act, but most past presidents acted as if it did apply. Any appearance during the RNC of cabinet members, the military, or any Federal Employee in their offical capacity is a violation. They should not be able to claim they were there in a ‘personal capacity’, since they were invited solely because of their positions. Even the Marines who opened the White House doors for tRump Thursday night are possibly in violation, since they were in uniform and on duty.

The only reason this administration has been able to get away with it is because the Senate refuses to confirm members for The Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), the federal agency tasked with adjudicating violations of the Hatch Act. Ordinarily there are three board members, but all three seats on the MSPB are currently vacant. The Office of Special Council can make recommendations concerning violations, but it is up to the White House or the MSPB to take action. With nobody responsible at either place, nothing happens.

Technically the Prexy himself is not covered by the Hatch Act (wonder why not, maybe something to do with the separation of powers) but the staffers and cabinet guys and Trump’s “senior advisors” like Ivanka and others all were very definitely in violation of the Hatch Act.
