Personally, I’m thinking it’s Donnie and Murder Turtle’s plan allowing the virus and economic devastation to “thin out” the ranks of the poor. Eugenics o’natural, so to speak.
The ancient tortoise and hare fable reaches into many pathways of thought. Beyond its simple meaning that “slow but steady wins the race,” many thinkers over the centuries have expanded it to more complicated mathematical and philosophical concepts.
Douglas Hofstadter is a favorite writer for me, although I can’t claim to truly understand more than a portion of what he writes. In GOEDEL, ESCHER, BACH: “An Eternal Golden Braid” he presents several dialogue among the Tortoise of Fable, Achilles of Homeric Epic, and other characters, including Zeno of the famous Paradox.
The Toles cartoon caused me to look up those dialogues again. However, Hofstadter’s references to the artwork of M. C. Escher gave me additional thought: I think we all construct an artwork with our lives. Whether that art is limited to a small circle of family, friends, and co-workers — or to a larger community or even nation — depends on circumstances that have developed.
Trump and his Republican enablers, having been given the opportunity, now transform us all into an Escher-like artwork. The illogic and illusion of “Relativity,” “Ascending and Descending,” and “Another World” are what we are becoming under Trumpublican influence. And the morphing tessellated patterns of Escher could be made into a gradation from Democracy to Aristocracy to Authoritarianism to Dictatorship. (Think of morphing, through many stages, George Washington to Vladimir Putin or Xi.)
We are all in in a “strange loop” (referring to another Hofstadter book). Is this a Trumpian Knot soon severed, or a frustrating Moebius Strip, or a bowed ribbon that progresses eventually after much pain to human enlightenment?
That which any normal, sane person would view as “too little, too late” is seen by these anti-Americans as “too much, too soon”. Uncle Vlad would be so proud!
It never was a “stimulous”, it was disaster relief, no different from that given in the aftermath of a major hurricane or earthquake. In this case, of course, the disaster was CAUSED to a large extent by an imbecile who was briefed about the threat to our national security in DECEMBER, and did nothing for months. Well, he cheated at golf a lot of times, he watched the Fox Propaganda Channel day and night, he called the global pandemic a “hoax”, he told the members of his cult that wearing a mask was somehow “unmanly” (sez the cowardly draft dodger), he promoted phoney cures even before getting involved with a lunatic who pretends to be a doctor, and he had rallies that spread the virus. Other than that, he did nothing for MONTHS. Of course, Moscow Mitch violated his oath of office (for the first of many many times) way back when Obama (remember him?) was president. A plague o’ both their houses!

What if Trump Wins??!! – {1.60 limericks}
Trump has a predilection
for dirty tricks in election.
Q: What if he wins?
A: The despot grins
as he holds us under subjection.
Q: How make him lose?
A: By turnout of Blues
sufficient for course-correction.
