How can you argue against a new FBI building that will save the Rump’s nearby hotel?

Why is it a Coast Guard ship? Strange as it was the Coast Guard that didn’t get paid during the last Trump Government Shut Down.

Tell me again how mindless “I’m right, you’re wrong”, “winner-take-all”, highly partisan politics works better than a thoughtful cooperative, collaborative partnership in a pandemic. How many must die before we realize how to look at things objectively, listen to each other, and work together on solutions?

It’s been simple the whole time: If a bill doesn’t benefit the rich with at least 50% of the spent money, the GOP will stonewall it, and if it doesn’t benefit the actual citizens the Dems will argue about it and moan about unfairness.

A useful president could probably do something about that kind of deadlock.

    Too bad.

False equivalency again…. as you might remember Bob used to be a conservative cartoonist until Rumpy came along…. and he’s still prone to equally blaming Dems for GOPers disasters. The Dems put their proposal on the table via the House Heroes Act on May 15th…. now after much internal arguing McTurtle and crew have decided upon a Senate GOP plan that at least half of the GOPers won’t vote for. Not because those GOPers think it is too little…. NO, they think that it’s far too much for the little guy AND not enough for their rich buddies! This is even tho it cuts the unemployment enhancement by as much as 2/3rds….and the total amount is only 1/3 of the relief of the House Dem bill. Nothing like letting people starve satisfies the GOP need to please their super rich masters. NO BOB, this is solely as GOP problem and they’re going to deservedly suffer at the polls for their deliberate intransigence.

    NO, Ariel.

This cartoon is just another example of the LIES of the so-called ‘conservatives’.

Real conservatives are honest and feel no need to LIE about what is obvious.

There are two hangups, one is the size of the life belt, and the other is where it is going. Republicans still favor the trickle-down theory, and want most help going to business and corporations.

When they TRY and pass bills there is ALWAYS stuff the other party does’t want. QUIT loading bills with junk that doesn’t matter to US citizens. America DOES NOT need a new FBI building right now. Working from home would save $$$$$$$$

Every time I hear the complaint of false equivalency, I get a little upset. The plurality of the electorate is unaffiliated/independent yet we have only 2 independents and 1 libertarian among the 535 members of the 116th. Each of the other minority factions that call themselves “major” parties only represents about 30% of the electorate. The unaffiliated don’t lean toward, they lean away from these minority views leaving a situation where a lesser evil rather than a true proactive choice is made at election time.

Stonewalling like McConnell is doing, surgically precise, computer-aided gerrymandering and politically-motivated registration purges should all be felonies, but how can you establish that law, when the highly polarized branch of Congress representing only 30% of the electorate is in control in our winner-take-all [there can be only one?] system. The parties are COMPLEMENTARY and meant to debate, discuss, compromise, collaborate, legislate, and work for the entire electorate NOT just their 30% base and their wealthy sponsors. The lack of cooperation during the pandemic is literally killing people.

Partisanship in Congress should be a crime especially when people are dying because of their inability to work with each other. Ultimately, [in theory] the voters decide who will represent them, but in reality, have high engineered elections lately which are effectively blocking the people who would make changes from getting elected and we can have a situation — as we have now — with one party in the House and the other in the Senate obstructing each other with zero regards for the people that have sworn to serve.

Tell me again how this is efficient and effective and the very best that we can do.

Meanwhile there is legislation working its way through the California state house (⅔ majority Democrats in BOTH houses) that will basically make up the $600 per week loss from the federal supplement until the new federal supplement takes over.

The Democrats had a plan in mid MAY. That’s TWO MONTHS ago. Meanwhile, the GOP is arguing over how they can get away with giving American citizens nothing and rich people more money, and Moscow Mitch let everyone go away for the weekend. God Almighty, how can you POSSIBLY position this as intra-party squabbling? It is one party — the GOP, in case that wasn’t painfully obvious, because it apparently is not —presiding over the sinking of the ship!

Perfect rendition of the state of this country. Both parties are so busy heaping crap and hurling slime at each other that neither one is even marginally concerned with the rest of us. I have never been this disgusted with the buffoons in DC and I never thought I would live to see the day when I thought Nixon and McCarthy might not have been so bad. Disgraceful fools and morons

Democrat-led House passed a relief bill 2 months ago, and it’s still sitting on Moscow Mitch’s desk.

Republikans do nothing until the benefits run out, then offer scraps to desperate Americans who need a real hand-up, while hoping for a payroll tax cut to undermine Social Security and allocate money to ensure that no competing hotel can open across the street from Trump’s D.C. dump.

Don’t even suggest that the two sides are equally complicit.
