Probably scared of the weird bird on the camera.

I stood behind the photographer and made faces at her while my two boys watch with glee. Those were the best photos we ever had of our two lads. (the eldest was almost 4 and the youngest 18 months, or thereabouts)

One day, when my older daughter was 8 months old, the landlord was changing our fuse system in the apartment building. It was one of the hottest days, so I took her to the mall just to walk around in air-conditioned comfort. She had on a little comfy sun dress on. It was getting to her nap time & she was getting a little grumpy. As we walked past a photo studio, a clerk stopped us & asked if I wanted a free sitting & picture of the baby. I said OK, but showed her that baby was grumpy. I sat her on the little table. She took one look at the camera, and her inner diva came out. I love how the picture came out: she was still a little pink & puffy around the eyes, but was smiling!

For those of you that have followed this for years, there are some of us that didn’t see the original strip.

    Lynn’s Comments:

When we re-ran strips that included April in her car seat, I had to redraw the panels to show the baby in the backseat in a rear-facing car seat in order to comply with new regulations.

A good photographer would have switched gears as soon as baby got pensive. Let momma get baby to smile and laugh and the photog can remove the camera from the tripod and go into candid mode.

I see other people have the same problem with cameras that I do. I don’t think I ever took a good picture in my life. At least not until I see them a few years later.

If you don’t read the April “dialogue” carefully, it looks like she’s singing “La Bamba”.

I love these old comics, reruns. They’re meant to amuse, distract. They don’t need all the analyzing but maybe some of the commentators do. My son did the same thing at that age, brings back memories.

I’m the same way. I enjoy being bathed and dressed, but not photographed.

Shouldn’t have sent Michael off to the farm. He could have stood by the photographer and made faces to make April giggle.

I don’t need a complete analytical breakdown of the difference in comics from long ago and today. Yes, I have read this comic from the beginning. I just enjoy it for what it is; a comic. No need to try to justify what the characters are doing. Sheesh, people, get a grip!!!

Childrens can surprise you with quiet the opposite moods. BTW this reminds me of our childhood days when studios ruled the streets.

One of the cutest pictures of my nephew, was when he had just stopped crying because we had made him take his gum out of his mouth, he had a little scab in the middle of his forehead from something he had run into when he was playing. Still my favorite to this day, and he’s nearly fifty.

Let April get used to the new place. The camera must look scary to a wee one. Relax and let her know it’s oj
