Federal law bars use of the inside of the Lincoln Memorial from being used for political purposes, Trump’s secretary of the Interior mad an exception for Trump. The only instance such an exception was made
There are some legitimate reasons for certain individuals not to challenge him on the spot. And there are plenty of cowardly reasons as well.
The press? Bold or timid, he disregards what they ask and talks, which is to say “lies,” about whatever he wants to and that usually includes abuse of the questioner. They can speak out when they write up their reports, or get thrown out for challenging him directly and in person. Some try to do both, but to little effect. Do you go out in a blaze of glory or keep returning and building a case?
The actual experts on hand like Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx? They are apparently trying to keep their place on the podium to do whatever they can to limit the damage that Trump does and to inject as much sense as they can get away with into the situation. But they apparently suffer inner turmoil having to listen to him spout dangerous nonsense while they hold their tongues till they see a chance to offer some bit of correction.
The other Republicans? They want power and influence no matter the cost. They have no shame.
I’m also thinking of the whistleblowers who kept their identity secret as long as possible to remain in place to “report to the outside world” what was really going on. No doubt they did their share of “appeasement” though resenting having to do it.
Cartoonist Mauldin drew The Memorial Lincoln with bowed head in his hands in 1963. In 2020 Danziger draws him with fingers in his ears. Both appropriate.
I have a bottle of champagne to celebrate when this sadistic, malignant narcissistic psychopath is no longer able to eat any more of America’s soul in small bites (paraphrasing Comey). His lack of competence and caring, his choice of bootlickers to say “yes, sir; you’re always right, sir” are literally destroying our country.
Travesty is the only word for this! Well, maybe “shameless travesty”…In three years the GOP has reduced our country to a banana republic. ElCaudillo Trump, And the Gray Eminence, Moscow Mitch.
As someone commented on another comic today, there’s nothing that says Trump can’t be impeached again. And at least that way, if found guilty, the senate could ban him permanently from public office. On the whole, it would be truly cathartic for the vast majority of Americans.
Orange POS defiled another memorial … November can’t get here soon enough. What havoc he’ll wreak in the 6 weeks between election and installation terrifies me.
The moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; those who are in the shadows of life; the sick, the needy and the handicapped. " ~ Last Speech of Hubert Humphrey

“To be honest…” ?? Really? These clichés (meaningless when he uses them) fall out of his mouth and land like feces on the ground.

As he said, “I’m the president, I can do anything”. The statue should have taken Trump across his knee and given him something to cry about.

PINO Trump and reality have clearly diverged from each other since the beginning of the COVEFE-45 crisis and it’s getting worse by the day.

Spot on, Mr Danziger. The only way in which Trump is truly one of a kind is the potency of his Dunning-Kruger Syndrome.

There is a big difference between being a decent human as Lincoln was and the current Fopdoodle occupying the same office.
