Double standards? YOU BET! 50% of domestic violence is done by women against men (or against other women! apparently the most frequent happens in lesbian relationships…according to police files! ) – but we never hear about those statistics, do we? Rape? There are people being raped daily for years – but nobody says a WORD, because they are men in prison. Everybody knows it is happening – (“Don’t drop the soap!” hahaha… ugh!) but nobody cares! As for women complaining 30 years later of sexual abuse… strange that it is always against famous men, never against the gardener or the librarian. In my youth I had plenty of people put their hands where they weren’t wanted, had people jump on me in train compartments, had a colleague follow me home and refuse to take no for an answer… Do I go around pretending I have been traumatized for the last 40 years? Nope. I chalked it up to “experience” and got on with my life. Maybe I SHOULD say something. I could probably become famous or at least get a lucrative book deal out of it. OOPS… no good! They weren’t famous people – and I’m a man! NOBODY cares if it happened to a guy. Only women have the right to be heard nowadays. And they must automatically believed, too! So, yes… double standard? YOU BET!

The real double standard is the Republicans ignoring the 19 claims of sexual assault against Trump and obsessing over this 1 against Biden

And, four years ago the headline read: “Top GOP leaders ignore Stormy Daniels and other women’s accusations”. But, since it was GOP, it’s all ok, right Steve?

    1) They are not ignoring it. 2) The press is not ignoring it. 3) What are we to do with the two candidates we have before us? There will be no other candidates, no matter how much people would like it. Therefore, we are left to choose between a man accused of fondling a woman against her will — an abhorrent case of sexual abuse, make no mistake — and a man accused by many women of fondling the against their will, of child rape, and of threats of violence if they talk. Maybe if we had a different system, we would not be here, but here we are.

There is a lot of evidence in this case that she is not being honest. Edits to old blog pages to create a narrative etc. While I deplore any inappropriate behavior, you do need some evidence. In Trump’s case, it’s on tape in his own voice. In Kavanaugh’s case, it’s on his calendar although I think his alcohol problems are also a disqualifier.

Shows they are frightened of Biden (as polls show they should be). Republicans were afraid of Senator Franken so exaggerated anything he had done over the years – comedy, friendly behavior, putting his arm around a woman. We lost one of the greats – imagine how he would have been taking down Trump if still a senator.

The problem is with the significant changes to Reade’s story over time. While memories may become hazy as time passes, we’re talking about an initial description that fits with Biden’s previous actions changing to a violent sexual assault.

It’s a classic GOP technique: Take your candidates’ sin and try to project it onto the opposition. That way you can claim somehow that both are equally bad – no matter how much worse the GOP candidate actually is – and somehow that makes YOUR candidate’s sin ignorable.

If Biden did this – and a lot of well-informed and objective people are saying he did not – he should suffer for it, but he’s still VASTLY better than #45, a man who BRAGGED about sleeping around on his wife, who betrayed EVERY wife he has had, who PAYS to sleep with a porn star while his wife is pregnant with his child, who takes PRIDE in his ability to sexually harass women. That’s several orders of magnitude worse than what they are claiming about Biden.

….and, top Repubs ignored all of Dump’s victims, too. Here is the real double standard: Biden has one question of morality so he’s unfit for office; Dump has multiple questions of his morality and he’s OK. And, this from the party of morals.

Since we’re talking about double standards…

Search Warrants 1-4 of the 33 in the Roger Stone case established that Stone, Infowars, Wikileaks, and Russian intelligence conspired against America for Trump

    h/t Eric Garland

Assange, congratulating Roger Stone for “taking the country back” on the day after the election. I can’t wait until we get Assange.

Remember that treason can’t be pardoned.

The standards for such accusations should be the same for all sides. Determining the actual facts after years have passed are difficult if not impossible. The times have changed since the days of Gary Hart. Ethics and morality are in much shorter supply. Neither party can claim the moral high ground. If I had to choose I’d take sides with the Democrats. Case in point. The POS in the White House. The Republican’s have no business chastising the Dem’s while they choose to ignore the elephant in their own house.

Biden’s accuser has used numerous different names over the years. She has published articles proclaiming her admiration for Putin and she waits 25 years to come out. No other witnesses except her family who heard about it. No coworkers including her female coworkers back her up. This whole thing stinks of GOP dirty tricks. You want to bet she becomes regular on Fox News?

At the least a creepy old guy. Hard to prove or disprove to either party’s satisfaction but that’s not what counts. No less worse than others, it’s still horribly unacceptable behavior. Yes the Rump & Co. are far worse but the dem’s could do so very much better.

Biden needs to address this… plain and simple. And in a very public and comprehensive way. All the “Whataboutisms” with Trump aren’t helpful.. in fact they are harmful for a candidate whose selling point is “hey I’m not Trump”. I think its BS myself… but the damage it will do is very real. Ignoring it is not a good look at all… and does indeed make democrats look hypocritical no matter how shaky the allegations are. Call a press conference… detailing all the reasons and facts that make the allegations unbelievable… offer to sit down and meet face to face with the accuser… do SOMETHING different than how the Republicans handled it.

You’re right. It’s a total double standard that Biden should have to be held accountable after America decided quite clearly that it wants misogynistic a-holes as leaders and this country doesn’t give any f’ks for gender equality.

I find it interesting that those who express the most outrage about Tara Reade are men, who do not seem concerned about any justice or help for her, but only a gotcha to the Dems.

The MeToo movement calls for women’s sexual harassment claims to be listened to and taken seriously. It does not call for women to be believed regardless of what a fact-based examination of their claim reveals. Moreover, this is a single allegation in isolation against Biden as opposed to dozens of claims against Trump: the fact that usually sexual harassers have a history of offenses is yet another factor that weighs against this claim being true, and especially against there being a double standard. This article describes many more issues with this allegation: https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2020/04/29/joe-biden-sexual-assault-allegation-tara-reade-column/3046962001/

I know this is a few days old now, but I’ve got to say that with 25 women accusing Trump of sexual assault and/or rape that have never been taken seriously by conservatives, the hypocrisy here is breathtaking.

Very fishy accusation considering it wasn’t made when Biden was vetted for VP. The GOP will never live down the fact that they vetted Trump and didn’t remove him when they had the chance.
