Actually, I learned in working at a supermarket that prunes are a specific type of plum. People actually brought them from produce and they were not dried but still called prunes. Besides, what about canned prunes? They’re not dry, are they? And of course you have prune juice (ick). You don’t get juice out of dried fruit.
