There are some present day professional golfers who either think they are ‘god’, or act like it because the media has put them up on a pedestal so high that they’ve deluded themselves.
god takes a great interest in golf. remember if on the links and a thunderstorm breaks out, take out your 1 iron and hold it over your head, for even god cannot hit a 1 iron on the fairway.
There’s a story told of the Cotton Bowl where a minister was brought in at the last minute to offer a prayer for one of the teams, who concluded his appeal to the Lord with, “…and help us to remember that nothing of any importance will be decided here today.” He was not invited back.
I remember a cartoon from years ago with the caption “And it will take a miracle for the Cowboys to pull out this game,” and up above the hole in the roof a gigantic hand is diagramming a play.
well, Linus – in the very large scheme of life with outcomes and results – may be God (remember to be God means that you and/or I can not know more than God or we would be God) does. If this person should win could it not result in a life being changed for the better. a charity being able to function, a lesson learned that life isn’t always fair or that winning isn’t everything for someone else? for me at least it is hard to imagine that God doesn’t care about everything that happens every single second of the day for everyone – BUT not, in the same way, you or I would ‘care’ (how could finite – you and/or I – ever figure out or even understand infinite – God)- but more in the really huge grand awesomely LARGE, scheme of everything ties into everything else eventually.

God doesn’t care about your bank account, the kind of car you drive, what your title is at work, …
We foolish mortals worry about the wrong things.
When it gets down to it; all we have are ourselves and each other.

Lee Trevino joke, after he himself got hit by lightning…
“Next time I am caught in a thunderstorm while on the course, I’ll just raise a one-iron into the air. Because not even God can hit a one-iron.”

You still have to thank “Him” anyway, just in case. Golfers, just like all sports players, are a superstitious lot.
