Cartoon benefits are pretty good, if the artist is willing.

I would assume Earl had a pension as maybe Opal did also! For her to sell his dignity to add to their finances without telling him is beyond the pale!!

    Earl should get out immediately!

One good reason to set up a better social security system, not relying on charity from the super wealthy.

There’s something surreal about Earl being a character in a comic strip within a comic strip.

It makes me a little sad when I perceive that a good cartoonist is running out of ideas.

This is making me worried. It feels like he’s wrapping up the strip and that would make me sad.

I don’t know how anyone can live on just their Social Security pension in the United States anymore. The cost of living makes it almost prohibitive.

The choices for Seniors in that situation is either to continue working until they are physically incapable, move in with their children, or become economic refugees by fleeing to another country where they can afford to live on their meager pensions.

One of the reasons that there are so many older expatriates living here in Ecuador, is that their retirement funds stretch three times further than in the States. It’s unfortunate and ironic that Seniors in the U.S. are forced to leave the country of their birth in order to live out their final years comfortably, in peace and dignity, with affordable medical care, in a foreign land.

Many states actually tax social security. In my case all my career’s paychecks were taxed on my gross, then my half of SS paid, and the other half by our customers. What a country! Time for another war ignoring the warnings to beware of foreign commitments and the military-industrial complex.

I am Sorry but isn’t About Time We QUIT trying to Point Fingers at Who May Have Created It or Who Has Screwed It Up or Not ?!?!?! None of That is Really Important !!! What is Important is CORRECTING and FIXING the SYSTEM !!!!!!!! I may be Wrong but it makes More Sense than Us setting around and Whining and Crying and Bitching about the Problem. Lets put our Energy into making a Competent and Intelligent SOLUTION to the Problem . ( I think We have Served Enough Cheese with All This “Wine” ! ) Anybody can Point Fingers but it will take All of Us Working Together to Correct It. ( Just My Personal Opinion. You All Be Safe and Have A Great Day ! :-) Try to Think Positive and Keep Our Faith. :-)

I realize its a cartoon, but they never seem to travel or have health problems and one might assume their house is paid for. Wonder why they have trouble making ends meet with 2 social security checks.

lucky for them she did; guess neither one had a pension or a 401k. and at least we all get to have a chuckle each day or have a smile on our faces because of what she has told his brother about his little habits. i know that it is rare these days to have a pension since people have quite a few jobs in a lifetime. luckily i had one job that i worked for almost 35 years and got a pension and health care and my SS. i even worked cleaning houses another 10 years after i retired. i count my blessing every day for how lucky i am.

You did not pay a tax on your SS Benefit until St Ronnie got it passed to make up for one of his tax cuts.

IF anyone OTHER THAN POLITICIANS had been handling & investing those funds, everyone would have, easily, double the benefits & the fund would have a big surplus.

Congress doesn’t give a damn about a year or two or more years ahead, because those pieces of …. arranged it so that they have an extremely comfortable income for their entire life!
