Pelosi delayed and delayed the start of the impeachment process, until her hand was forced by how egregious he had become… and the whistle blower. Now she’s delaying again. I thought then and I think now that she wants the whole thing to continue until she can spring an October surprise. !0 months to go…

There shouldn’t much hope that star witnesses will tell the truth during the Senate “trial,” even in the unlikely event they are compelled to appear. The Trump gang has had plenty of time to coordinate testimony among its members, and others who might testify differently would be on a lower level of prestige.

The slim hope is that at least one of the big shots will put loyalty to country and the Constitution before sycophancy to one man — hardly likely from what has been shown so far. Unless there is some hidden, irrefutable evidence … but that has probably be shredded or deleted. The lesson of Nixon’s tapes must be prevalent among most crooked politicians.

If you happen to see a robed old man with a lantern roaming around Washington, with an extremely frustrated expression on his face — that might be Diogenes returned, in a hopeless search for an honest Republican.

Nancy Pelosi seems to have a plan. Now that several senators – including Moscow Mitch and Lindsey Graham – have already declared for #45, they should recuse themselves, but won’t unless forced. Pelosi seems to be looking for a way to ensure that a real trial happens, and not the sham that Moscow Mitch is already promising…

The gradual value flips from anti-communist to anti-democracy and loyalty to their party over loyalty to their country over the past 60 years is very disturbing to most Americans. I hope that the media will take notice someday soon and stop pretending that both Democratic and Republican views have equal merit in our constitutional democratic republic.

Hump wants an acquittal. Pelosi is playing this hand quite well. The longer she holds out the more anxious and unhinged Hump and the repug-nuts will get. She is right not to send her managers to the senate on a fool’s mission and let the repugs make a travesty of the occasion. Come October, Hump will be desperate not to be listed in the history books as having been indited but never acquitted.

Not long ago the Trumpublicans were saying the Democrats were rushing the impeachment. Now they’re complaining, saying that Pelosi is stalling.

There is much more to unearth of Trump’s and his cabinet’s mis-deeds. For the good of the country, the digging should continue.

Vlad was sad and wanted a new lane

So he thought he’d annex the Ukraine

    While the world sits

    Putin out his hits!

Now, though, Vlad is feeling much more sunnier

He owns a prez who can’t be less than funnier

    (And weighs a tonnier!)

But the wheel of fortune and of fate

Keeps right on spinning, whether now or late

    And the Senate sits

    Putin out his hits!

Now that President Trump’s impeachment is inevitable, and now that failing to formally impeach him would invite foreign intervention in the 2020 election and set a dangerous precedent, another option seems vital to consider: voting for articles of impeachment but holding off for the time being on transmitting them to the Senate.

This option needs to be taken seriously now that Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has announced his intention to conduct not a real trial but a whitewash, letting the president and his legal team call the shots.

Such an approach could have both tactical and substantive benefits. As a tactical matter, it could strengthen Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer’s (D-N.Y.) hand in bargaining over trial rules with McConnell because of McConnell’s and Trump’s urgent desire to get this whole business behind them. On a substantive level, it would be justified to withhold going forward with a Senate trial. Under the current circumstances, such a proceeding would fail to render a meaningful verdict of acquittal. It would also fail to inform the public, which has the right to know the truth about the conduct of its president.

In an op-ed for The Washington Post published Monday, Tribe suggested the House vote to impeach Trump over the Ukraine scandal, but then hold off on transmitting the articles.

On a substantive level, it would be justified to withhold going forward with a Senate trial. Under the current circumstances, such a proceeding would fail to render a meaningful verdict of acquittal. It would also fail to inform the public, which has the right to know the truth about the conduct of its president.
