Where do they live that it might be cold in August? Or, is this a repeat comic from a colder time?

forgot there was a pet door, Earl? (makes me wonder why Fred Flintstone never climbed through the paneless window after the saber-toothed cat locks him out of the cave night after night)

Just who is he hoping to keep out of his house if there’s a giant pet door that anyone can crawl in through? Fat criminals?

Touchpad door locks, Earl… best for older or disabled folks anyway as the code can be given to help if needed.

Love that “breaking the fourth wall” look that Roscoe’s giving!

I’m trying to think of a place in the continental U.S. where it’s “cold” on August 12th.

    I’ve done that before.

All you have to do is lie down on your back in front of the dog door and reach up through the flap and unlock the door

I used to hide my key until one time I needed it and it was so rusted it wouldn’t work.

Kinda reminds me of the old Lone Ranger and Tonto story:

Lone Ranger and Tonto are on the top of a hill. Lone Ranger looks around and says: “Indians have surrounded us, we can’t escape. Tonto, we’re gonna die.”

And Tonto says: “What’s this WE, white man.”

Too bad it wasn’t Lassie: He could’ve given exact instructions about the location of the spare house key and she’d have gone in and retrieved it!

When we moved to the burbs from Milwaukee c. 1976, our new neighbor couldn’t understand why we locked our door.

We don’t have a doggie door, but we don’t lock our doors either.

I once sent my very young son into our house through the cat door. The hardest part was getting him to come back to the door and reach all that way up to open it for me: There were no small/light chairs nearby and he was too short to get a decent grip on the handle. Eventually I figured out to push a piece of 4×4 through the opening and he stood on that.

PS: Then he was free to go in and out at will, which was not an unmixed blessing.

Why not just go next door, get Nelson, and have him go through the doggy door to open it? My sister was using her vacuum cleaner, so she didn’t hear her granddaughter knocking on the door. So granddaughter simply climbed over the back fence, and crawled through the doggy door. If anyone else tried that, the 2 very large dogs would have had a great snack.
