When Jesus reportedly said, “Suffer little children…” (as in the King James very translation with its quaint but very archaic language), he did not mean to cause children to suffer.
But the cartoon is a perfect illustration of how conservative faux “Christians” approach the Bible. They claim to follow the Bible literally, but then cherry-pick the parts they like and literally ignore most of what is in the Bible, including numerous atrocities (supposedly commanded by god), direct internal contradictions and factual errors the cherry-pickers never seem to include in their Sunday School lessons.
These faux “Christians” especially cherry-pick to reject the teachings on love, compassion, social justice and other values so foreign to everything they teach or live by. They essentially reject the actual teachings of Jesus.
While there may be occasional flashes of inspiration and primitive wisdom in the Bible (as in any ancient book of myths and legends), the Bible as a whole is a compendium of ancient, primitive mythology.
Largely plagiarized from earlier Sumerian and Babylonian mythologies, the Bible is no better and certainly no more literally factual than the mythologies of the ancient Greeks, Romans, Vikings, Incas or Mayans, who were far more advanced in science, math and culture than the primitive tribal Hebrews, and whose religious mythologies evolved into modern sciences, unlike the anti-science postures of Bible literalists.
Here is my compilation of HUNDREDS of specific examples of atrocities supposedly commanded by god, direct internal contradictions, factual errors, and failed prophecies that they never teach in Sunday School, with each example fully documented with chapter-and-verse references that true believers can look up in their very own Bibles:
Any kind of system that legitimizes, let alone subsidizes, for-profit prisons is evil, plain and simple. And when CHILDREN are the victims……words aren’t sufficient. And, as for Li’l Mikey Pence, who is the (somewhat legal) peon of Li’l Donnie Trump……conservative icon George Will put it best, years ago. “Anybody who would agree to become Donald Trump’s running mate would be unqualified, because he would think that Trump is qualified.”
I find it mildly ironic that 15,000 actual armed soldiers are advancing from the heart of Mexico toward our southern border, but some people in the White House way more worried about a bunch of half-starved raggedy little kids headed the same way.

This political toon made me cry. I hope a lot of others do what I did yesterday and that was to write their congress people. I asked them, no I rather demanded, that this atrocity has to end and the children returned to their parents.
Lets call it what it is.. Government sponsored human trafficking. These children stolen from their parents or guardians will.. eventually.. be sold to the highest bidder as child labor for some farmer
This story is so hurtful! And the fact that they do it out in the open, with no qualms. Do Trump’s voters like this? Are they as cruel as the man they voted for?
I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me – in the 2nd book of the bible. (IMO written by men who needed to scare women, slaves, and defeated enemies to allow patriarchy to grow and smother any rebellion.)

One of its most notable examples has the speaker longing, among other things, for the day he can bash his enemy’s babies’ heads upon the rocks. I think this is the doctrine religious and alt-right extremists in Trump’s administration — folks like Mike Pence and Stephen Miller — embrace in the privacy of their own hearts.
