    So, he established a consensus…

Looks like good basic scientism to me.

I’m sure he won’t have any trouble convincing a gaggle of politicians on the Undeniable Truth of his findings.

The sad part is that this kind of racism and hatred is so easily bought into by our governing bodies.

    From the referenced article:

“Beginning in 1939, immediately following Billie Holiday’s performance of “Strange Fruit,” Anslinger began ruthlessly targeting the singer for her purported heroin addiction. Given his undeniable racism, it’s difficult to believe that the campaign’s timing, so soon after the release of the haunting racial justice protest song, was a coincidence. From that day on, Anslinger’s agents hounded Holiday. As she was being transported to the hospital for a combination of drug and alcohol use, she said, “They are going to arrest me in this damn bed.” Holiday died not long after, and her friends blamed the stress of Anslinger’s campaign for her death.”

I bet this guy drew praise from every pulpit in the land.

I tried looking it up, but didn’t find it right away. Does anyone know the origin of the quote: ‘Anyone can cure an ill but he that has it’?

Richard Nixon hated hippies, he had a commission study cannabis.

    They recommended legalization.

Nixon moved cannabis into the same class as heroin and began the no knock drug war against the left wing.

A few, cough cough, years ago, a friend and I had a generic handbill to promote our music. It had “quotes” from reviews. One was, “A shocking example of the ravages of drug abuse.” It was attributed to the great drug warrior mentioned above. The attribution makes this comment unpostable.

Addiction is the making of extra receptors. design a drug that will lock itself into that receptor and destroy it. And ‘moral fiber?’ Why not physical strength, or intellectual strength? Anything makes more sense than moral strength.

Please remember that if you support legalization of marijuana, the place to do that is with Congress. Write, phone or email your congress-critter and inform them that the 1970 CSA should not have included marijuana as a schedule 1 item. It is up to Congress to change the law, not any single state. Until it is no longer federally regulated, it cannot be considered deregulated.

I came across this quote the other day. It seems so appropriate here:

When small men begin to cast long shadows, it is a sure sign that the sun is setting.

The body’s best-known endocannabinoid, anandamide, does more than just make you feel “blissful”… it’s synthesized in parts of the brain that are important for:

memory, motivation, higher thought processes, movement, as well as, pain, appetite, and fertility.

When we understand what role anandamide plays in our bodies naturally, we gain a greater understanding of the possibilities of THC.

Anandamide is the chemical that helps us forget unimportant details, improve our happiness and increase neurogenesis (creates new nerve cells). It also rewards us for a job well done (runner’s high) while battling anxiety and depression. Now that’s a versatile, hard-working chemical.

Researchers believe that if you naturally have more anandamide, you have less use for cannabis. But can you imagine if your body wasn’t creating enough?

there are 2 main types of receptors: CB1 and CB2.

Cannabinoid Receptor 1 (CB1) receptors are mainly located in the brain and nervous system, as well as in the lungs, liver, and kidneys. Our natural endocannabinoids and the cannabinoid THC from cannabis mainly bind with CB1 (due to their similar molecular structure). This gives patients relief from pain, nausea and depression, among other things.

Cannabinoid Receptor 2 (CB2) receptors are found mainly in the immune system, with a heavy concentration in the spleen and in the gastrointestinal system. CB2 receptors — which bind best with the endocannabinoid 2-AG and cannabis’ CBD — are involved in the regulation of appetite, immune system functions like inflammation, and pain management.

Scientists are on the cusp of determining a third type of cannabinoid receptor (for CBN), but research in this area is ongoing and inconclusive as of now.

The expression of receptors is as unique person-to-person as fingerprints. Everybody has a different balance, number, and concentration of them, which is why experimenting with cannabis medication is such a delicate and slow process.

The comments today are amazing. You guys know so much. I feel quite ignorant in comparison. At least I have the guts to admit my shortcomings. Learned new stuff today. That’s always a good thing.
