A friend had a beautiful fur coat in the late 70s. Her gentle response to the haters was, “It’s okay, I have the suicide notes in my pocket.” (True story)
My ex-roommate, while in the US Navy, was in Japan on shore leave for a week, decided to take a bullet train out of Tokyo to see the countryside (he was from Wisconsin). He found a small village that was about two hours out and got off the train to check things out. As he walked through the village he spotted an elderly woman giving a puppy a bath, while he watched the old woman wash and dry the puppy, happy and wagging its tail, she took a club and beat it to death. Then proceeded to skin and prepare it as one would a rabbit or other small game for dinner. He was so shookup by this little old lady’s barbaric actions that took the next train back to Tokyo and spent the rest of his shore leave on the ship in port. He decided then and there to became a vegetarian, and has been since.
My opinion on the fur trade is, we shouldn’t be raising animals for just the fur, but if we kill an animal for eating, and it has fur, we might as well use the fur.

Is Petey a riff on PETA? I hadn’t considered that before.

And just then, a fisher dropped from a tree and strangled Petey with its tail while dragging him off.

Business means he’s making money off of it. So Petey’s either running a synthetic fur racket, or sided with PETA.
nosirrom about 5 years ago
I hope Petey isn’t working with PETA.
