Linus is normally quite knowledgeable. However, while horses do indeed need to be vaccinated against tetanus, the shots originally given to humans to combat tetanus were derived from horses.
Additionally, dogs are still somewhat susceptible to the effects of tetanus, although not as much as humans or horses, so if there is a question of a dog being exposed to a high concentration of tetanus bacteria (not very likely in a fight with a cat, unless he was exposed to animal feces after getting all scratched up), a tetanus shot may indeed be called for.
I had to have tetanus shots for a dog bite(it was the neighbors’ German Shepherd, and didn’t have rabies), and for a bloodied face when I was injured on the pavement.
If he had been stepped on by the cat “Horse” from Footrot Flats he would not have survived the experience. “Footrot Flats” was a popular NZ cartoon strip; look it up.

I think Lucy needs that kind of dental shot to numb her blabbing mouth.

You’d think that Snoopy would run away from seeing the Vet at the mere mention of a shot of any kind!
