    I once applied for a security clearance. Due to backlogs at the FBI, it was taking longer than expected. I told my commanding officer, “Maybe I should not have listed that KGB agent as one of my references.”

    I thought I read somewhere that some companies are requiring job candidates to provide their credit information. They want to be sure that someone is not in financial distress, won’t steal, etc.

    Interesting … usually the DCIS (Defense Criminal Investigative Service) conducted security clearance “background investigations” for the DoD (both military and civilian personnel).
