All I find in my yard are rocks. Dirt so poor it would make a farmer cry. That’s what happens when you scrape the topsoil off to build a housing tract.
No.. not looking for minerals at all. Palmer has long wondered where the dirt that formed the Grand Canyon went.. he has now set up an experiment studying current flow and how suspended dirt moves.
Our first house had had a prior existence as a chop shop for somewhat warm automobiles. We picked enough “overlooked minerals” out of the back yard to open a fair-sized hardware store…

This may not pan out well for Palmer. Most of the overlooked residue in Ballard Street was left by people who looked the other way.

Happy New Year, Everyone!
An hour past midnight on the west coast….

I present….. January first… 2019!
Unbelievable.
1984 is no longer in the future… babies born that year are 38!
The Big New Year’s Bash is still going strong at the Tiki!
Huge buffet…. come fill a plate.
Or have a Yak n’ Dak on the house….
Careful with putting too much other buffet food on that plate… it’s big cos those ribs average about 2 pounds each.
Can you eat two? Good luck!

Gold and silver are probably in short supply…
and platinum pretty nonexistent.
But Palmer has already found 2 broken seashells, a shiny rock of unknown provenance…. and four green rhinestones,
probably all from that gaudy bracelet Millie just had to buy on their trip to New Jersey.
She’ll probably be so delighted, she’ll make him a nice pot roast for finding those.
A good haul, I’d say.

Looks like he struck a sewer line, to me. Or Scoot left his calling card there.

That’s how it starts.
From looking for minerals and pretty stones to full blown Metal-Detectors is a slippery slope.

Wouldn’t this be cupping for minerals?

Is he using the Palmer method? Maybe he could teach Baldo?
